Removing Manufactors Link from Start Menu

Recommended Posts

Ok this bugged me for while but i found this out, i think it will be come useful for many people.

Follow these simple steps:

1. Right-click the Start Menu and choose Properties

2. Click Start Menu tab, 'Customize', 'Advanced' tab

3. In the 'Start Menu items' list, uncheck Manufacturer Link option

4. Click OK, and OK.

And then its done!

Is there any way of making it show up in Classic Start Menu?

I think you'd most likely have to use ResHacker on explorer.exe to ad your own link onto a classic start menu.

or if you just want it above your programs list, then you can just drag a shortcut onto the startmenu and use that :)

See, I have a problem with using ResHack on explorer.exe.

I mean besides the fact that I'm not sure I'll make it work.

My explorer.exe is dated 08/04/2004, so they actually update the thing. Suppose they put out a new one.

I'm trying to brand a number of computers. I clone them after I brand them so I don't have to overwrite it on every one, but I'm not going to be happy when I have to replace the file on all of them after an update. It's not exactly a breeze to do it when the system is running and I can't reclone them afterwards(loseing data).
