[Settings]Enable Aurora boot screen

Recommended Posts

If you are tired of the default boot screen in Windows Vista, there is a better looking one hidden away

Press the Windows Key + R combination on your keyboard to display the Run dialog.

Type msconfig

If UAC Prompts you, click on Continue.

In the System Configuration?€? window, click on the Boot? tab.

Select your Windows Vista installation and under Boot options, check ?€œNo GUI boot.

Press OK.

In the dialog that appears, check Dont show this message again?, and then click on Restart?.

Your computer will now reboot, and you will see the aurora? boot screen with text that says Starting Windows Vista.

Please rememebr when messing around with system files always have backups of your files etc

I really dont know about this. I switched to it instantly pretty much after RTM was released (i never really used Vista as a main OS before then), but I just prefer the simplicity of the standard boot screen.

I suppose it would have been nice if they could have done something a bit more spectacular with it, but as far as I know, they are still limited to 16 colours on the standard one (correct me if I'm wrong though ;) )
