Great - another AOL test to hurry the hell up so that we can move on up to the next client version after 9.0 VR (10?).

Oh, and Mch? You KNOW damn right that they are. TBH, all the tests at AOL Beta Central are absolutely useless except AIM 6.x (which I wish they'd hurry up and make that GM so we can move on up with AIM 7, btw) and the AOL client software, like 9.0 Tahiti, 9.0 Strauss, and 9.0 VR. Quite frankly, I'm tired of this 9.0 rut we're stuck in. We've been testing 9.0 *ever since* March 4th, 2003 when it was under the AOL 8.0 Plus Refresh test that evolved to Blue Hawaii, then 9.0 Optimized.

You have to admit that you *are* pretty tired of seeing 9.0, lol.

Oh, and guess what? The current 9.0 VR Refresh II test will not GM. It's purely just a test of back-end components.

Yes I am ready to see another client. I was sick of 9.0 after Strauss. I don't want it to be something like OpenRide though. :s Ahh the good ole beta days - when everything was hidden from non AOL beta testers, and they had better tests. :)

Yeah, Thailand is just the internal code name for "Tahiti," which is the prettified code name for 9.0 Optimized SE (and no, it's not Second Edition; it's Special Edition - a beta staffer told me that when Tahiti Beta 5 was released, when SE and LE was intro'd).

How old is the 9.0 client? LOL About as old as MSN Explorer 8? :)

thx for screenshots Mike!! Looks kinda cool. Do most AOL users hit up webmail when not on their PC? They haven't had webmail all that long...

I seemed to forget to check my AIM mail when I log in...so I can do both now :D

AOL 9.0 was released in 2003. Beenie says March 4th, 2003 was when it was released into Beta. (He keeps up with his stuff, lol.) I think MSN Explorer 8 and 9 was released in 2002?

Yeah they have had Webmail for quite some time. At least since 2004-2005- so I guess it hasn't been that long. You can still get (AOL users only) to the "Classic" Webmail here. You can get to Webmail 2.0 here. Then of course 3.0 (Cayman) is the current one. I like how AOL allows you to choose which type of Webmail you want use.

Nope, Mch. MSN 8 was released in Oct 2002, then 8.5 in March 2003.

Then MSN 9 was released in December 2003, along with 9.1 in Dec 2004.

Then 9.5 sometime in Oct (?) 2006, when they managed to make it Vista-compatible.

Go figure; AOL is just trying to compete with MSN via making it an advertising portal and making every one of its services web-based.

Frankly, I'm disgusted at AOL's currently failing attempts. They should just go back to the old way, the unique way. And, bring back the old AOL logo!

I hate the all-blah's that AOL's going into nowadays.
