L3thal Veteran Posted November 6, 2008 Veteran Share Posted November 6, 2008 I just got myself a MacBook two days ago (who would've ever thought) and I am trying to figure out why Java is so slow and sometimes unresponsive with Firefox but works fine with Safari. FOr example, I attempt to run Scottrader from scottrade.com and it takes 2-3 minutes to load and it is really slow. If I run it under Safari it runs perfect. Any ideas? I have no problems with the Java on Firefox here. The loading takes a while but no 3 minutes. Just install Windows as you normally would. But I don' think you can then go and dual boot OS X once you've done that. Correct me if I'm wrong . . . If you delete the partition that holds Mac OS X, the only way to be able to re-install it would be to run Mac OS X from an external drive, run Disk Utility and then recreate a partition... I was thinking about doing this once but decided not to since you need Mac OS X to install computer firmware updates. For some websites that require character spacing of 79 characters or less, it's ideal. Just remember that the Apple key takes over pretty much all functions from the CTRL key in Windows. I also recommend you look at several apple blogs for essential information and tips.
