Thatt does look sweet!

On another topic here's a problem I'm currently having with my mybook, the icon doesn't appear anymore, although sometimes it does. I think it may of been because I deleted the 'Autorun' folder that arrived preput on the hard drive disk, any ideas?

Fan Noise reduction -?Workaround>

I got some really good advice from Amazon and newegg customer reviews. About flipping the internal fan around, looks like a design oversight, as the fan sucks in air, instead of out. After flipping the fan around the drives are running much cooler and its not kicking into leaf blower mode even with FireWire (400). Eventhough I've been stress testing the drives in RAID 0 mode and had?left it constantly copying 200?gigs?of?data?and?managed?to?fill?it?up?last?night?and?all?that?time?it?was?was?in?silent?mode.?I?even?tried?to? stress test it further by playing three MPEG 2 VOB files during the:)opy process. Still silent :)

WD Button Manager[/b]l]

WD Button Manager

I also noticed the WD button manager doesn't even load if both USB and firewire (400) are connected or even just FireWire. Anyone else have that issue with WinXP SP2?

I hope WD would release a firmware update, to JBOD the drives into one logical volume or just two drives. Anyone got their product support link? I couldn't find it.

About that last part "WD Button Manager"..

I actualy DO have the SAME problem.. Did anyone found the solution about the problem? I'm tired of google-ing around.. I just :cry:39;t get it to work..

I got a Lacie 500GB instead for $109. It's running perfectly even though it's been on almost 24/7 for the past two months.

So far I haven't seen one LaCie 500GB drive here under ?200,- with a FireWire 800 connection. The LaCie USB 2.0 only models are about ?100, but then again so are the ones from Western Digital.

The only thing that does tick me off at the moment is that Western Digital neglected to update their Button Drivers to support Mac OS X Leopa:crazy:azy:

Is this "Pro" edition similar to the Premium edition? http://tiny url.com/256esu

Neowin doesn't like tinyurl?

It lacks the FireWire 800 connection and spots a black casing (instead of silver). Beyond that they're the same.

Sorry to bump this, i just got the WD My Studio 500GB, it's nice but louder than i expected. Luckily, i always have music playing when i'm using my computer.

I found it very slow when i was backing up with Time Machine. I was using Firewire 800.

ok mine isnt working anymore

after 6 months!!!

basically it lights up, and you can hear the hard drive spinning etc, but it shows on on vista now as UNKNOWN USB DEVICE, and if you touch the mybook in certain places it powers down!! :(

once in a while it gets detected and everything is running fine!!!!

any idea on how to fix it?
