I thought Muntari was ~ 28, I am sure I read that somewhere. My mistake then :p

Either way Mascherano is still at least 10x the player Muntari is. I would even go as far to say that Mascherano is the best player in world in his position. I think he is just as good as Didi Hamann in his prime, and Didi was a sensational player.

Mashcerano is a good holding player no doubt, but his passing and distribution let him down big style. It's just so inconcsistent.

One game he'll pass well, then the next he'll pass like Sissoko. He's another player that only seems to play well when Liverpool play well.

When a player can do both defensive duties and create chances with passing, running or shooting then their value massively increases. Essien can do both, Carrick can do both and so can Flamini.

Therefore Mascerano's just like Sissoko but with slightly better passing skills and more awareness.

It looks like me and you will be disagreeing on this one NightCrawler.

Sissoko and Mascherano are similar players to an extend. Sissoko's main asset is his physical ability and he gets round the pitch so much, Mascherano does this well also. He may not have the physical presense of Sissoko, but if you watch him play he will ALWAYS put the tackle in and 9 times out of 10 he will succeed. He is a master of tackling.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Mascherano's passing ability. If you watch him for Argentina he plays just in front of the back four, and most of Argentina's play goes through just him, and he plays simple, short and effective passes which suits Argentina's game so well. For Liverpool he plays a similar role but with a lot more freedom, and more recently I have noticed him playing some sublime 40 yard balls around the pitch.

Everytime I have been to see Liverpool play this year Mascherano has been man of the match for me (and other people), his ability is just phenominal and he can only get better really. He does so much work that not many people actually see. Don't forget the last Champions League final either, he marked Kaka out of the game!

Mashcerano has been playing a lot in 4-4-2 recently, but I don't think that suits him the most. I think something along the lines of...

-------Alonso-------Gerrard----

----------Mascherano-----------

...would suit him best.

I think Sissoko will be leaving in January. After all we have Lucas, Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano and Sissoko vieing for 2/3 places in midfield, we cannot keep them all happy. I loved Sissoko in his first season with us, he teared everyone apart, but recently his technical ability has been exposed and "Monster" Mascherano is by far the better player.

Mascherano is fast becoming one of my favourite players in world football, I want his babies.

Martyn I salute you on your thoughtful response though I still beside that he's inconsistent at times but nonetheless I will watch him more carefully in the next few of Liverpool matches just to get a better view of his qualities.

Clichy has been playing his best football this season, no one can get past him - not even Ronaldo! I think the Arsenal vs West ham was the first time we played very well since maybe the 1st half of the Aston Villa match were we were our best.

Unexpected hero this week: Titus Bramble :p

Barton is out on bail.

Jesus christ that bloke needs to be shot and save everyone the hassle. I do not understand how he can be such a pain in the arse. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets beaten up by someone who is a lot smarter and tougher then him. He is a menace to everyone. I'm sick and tired of him.

Not much moving about in the tranfser window at the moment. Some mangers are saying it's useless, I find it's a good time to get rid of players and to to get some loans in. If any club has any scouting done, they know the sort of players they want. Therefore they will at least attempt to buy them.

Newcastle have parted company with manager Sam Allardyce.

The club, currently 11th in the Premier League, said the decision had been reached by "mutual agreement".

Allardyce, who was in charge for just eight months, said: "I am disappointed to be leaving Newcastle but I wish the club all the best for the future."

Former captain Alan Shearer has been strongly linked with the post but chairman Chris Mort said: "A new manager has not yet been appointed."

Newcastle were only 11th. That sort of postion for this season would of been fine. I'm not a great fan of Newcastle and find they are up themselves. I'm not a big fan of Sam either. Why does it seem Newcastle always buy trouble players and ones that get injuried.

Where next for sam? I can't see him getting in any other team this season.

No same here I think in terms of his career he is done until at least a mid table team loses a manager. In terms of Newcastle I think they are a good side just they seem to get the dud managers the only one that ever did any good there in my era is Keegan, remember that season they were in the top 2 for a long time.

Newcastle need to grow up, with the fans current attitude id glady see them appoint Shearer as manager, he fails, they sack him, then they're back to square one, only with another "legend" for them to try and steer them in the wrong direction.

Under Sir Bobby Robson we finished in the top 4 on three occassions if I remember rightly. The club has never been since they fired him, it all went downhill from there.

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has turned down an offer to succeed Sam Allardyce as Newcastle manager.

Redknapp was Newcastle's number one choice but he has decided to stay at Fratton Park.

Allardyce left St James' Park on Wednesday and Redknapp soon became Newcastle's number one choice to take over the reins.

Portsmouth reportedly gave Redknapp until lunchtime on Saturday to make a decision, and he has opted to stay.

Good man Redknapp! He will do better to stay at Pompey.
