Ouch, you Dad is a Man Utd fan? That must be hard!

i swear if both of us didn't like the same hockey team i would have been kicked out of the house a long time ago.

Me and a buddy at work who is a man u fan have a bet were the loser has to wear the winning teams jersey at work all day...

Arsenal will be back.

Do you guys know that If Man Utd lose 1-0 to Bolton and Chelsea beat Tottenham 12-0 then we have new league leaders! I know it won't happen but whatever...

Mate please change the sig, its really sad for an Arsenal fan :(

You're telling me that you two have been arguing all through the thread, and you're Liverpool fans? Mind you, you lot do have quite a bit to complain about? How long since you've won England's premier trophy?

Just to say, I don't wanna start a flaming war, but Liverpool fans really need to start seeing the real deal here.

They can go on about the 5 Champions Leagues and what not, and the fact I'm from Leicester (yet I still hate those chavy fans who support United just for kicks), but the Premiership is where the real contest lies. You need consistency all through the season to win it, whereas CL can be won in a hot streak even if you lose nearly half of your games.

We will catch up to your record, and away leaving you in the dust (Even Chelsea could catch up to you lot), so don't rely on the past to try and glorify your team nowadays. (Even your past could have arguably been very different if it weren't for the Munich air disaster).

clearly you haven't read any of our posts. We admit (or at least i do) when our team played like garbage. Lately they have been on fire, seven in a row is noting to complain about. Yeah we may not be on the top of the table, but we have ourselfs a champions league spot so far and are in the quarterfinals of this years competition. Yeah so it's been a while since we have won england but we still do outstanding in europe so that is something and a whole lot more then whatever team you decide to go for (cause everyone knows leicester doesn't have a team). Your team will never catch what liverpool has done, never. Chelsea isn't catching up to anything, ever. Their best player doesn't even want to be there. If winning europe is nothing, why aren't any other english teams doing, cause i mean damn, it has to be easy as hell to do according to you.

Myself and rajput have not been arguing, we have been debating and analysing our great club. Sure, we sometimes have a difference of opinions on how football should be played or on what players should be selected, but that is football. This is why we love football, it is a source of conversation and enjoyment. Like I said a while ago, if rajput and me ever bumped into each other I would buy him a pint because he seems like a nice fella.

What grates me about Man Utd "fans" is that most of them have never been to Manchester! I mean, besides the Salford area in Manchester every other area seems to support Manchester City. There has always been a huge rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester United due to each teams success, but that does not mean as much to me as the banter flying around between Liverpool and Everton fans simply because we both have the passion, the history and the mutual respect (although, Everton might be a bit bitter of our success).

Since I started University in Lancaster I have met about fifty or more Man Utd fans and I can quite honestly say, only three of them admitted they where from Manchester. This seemed to grate a lot of them when myself and my mate said "why don't you support your local team?", we normally got a response along the lines of "my dead dog's neighbours son's great, great gran was a Manchester United fan fifty years ago". I lack respect for a lot of Man Utd fans, they demand huge sympathy for the Munich air disaster (and a lot of them don't even know the history of it), yet they openly sing about and abuse the 96 Liverpool fans who died in the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.

It might seem slightly hypocrtical to talk about location and following your team considering rajput is from Canada. At least he has the passion to choose and support Liverpool though (and especially considering his Dad was a Man Utd fan, and must of tried to influence his son) and he says he has supported Liverpool for a long while now. During the '90's we where not very successful on the trophy front. Don't get me wrong, Liverpool FC has its fair share of glory hunters these days, but at least the heritage of the club remains intact and most of our supporters can point Manchester out on a map.

Liverpool fans will support our team throughout thick and thin. Just look at what has happened since Hicks has done us over, we have protested, set up initiatives and we HAVE made a huge difference by putting this pressure on Hicks. I honestly think Liverpool's future has never looked rosier, ok we might need some more time to sort out the whole takeover deal, but once that is done and we actually know where we stand I am confident we can press on and make a greater challenge for the title (whilst picking up trophies like we have been along the way). Football takes time anyway, it took Sir Alex seven years to win the title at Utd.

Anyway, say what you like, you know Man Utd would gladly swap many of there league titles for another European Cup. I mean, Sir Alex has got to one final in twenty years, and Rafa has got to two finals in just three years. Bob Paisley won it three times in nine years as well!

I really hope my post does not sound to aggressive by the way, as that was not my intent, I was just trying to get my point accross. Back to the football anyway (and hopefully we will have nice pleasant football talk), but I hope Torres puts three past you on Sunday ;)

...if we lose I will cry.

It's alright Martin. I understand why you hate most United fans. I'm kinda wishing that United suffer a slump and all of these chavs just go away and leave the real fans where they are.

Personally I feel that all the money thats been at the club (and many others around football these days), has taken all of these box seats into the theater of dreams and leaving real united fans without a ticket as well. Of course taking out the suits won't make much difference. Money and football are here to stay to be bleakly honest.

Of course I would like another CL for a lot of our League titles. But thats like saying the Liverpool fans would be willing to trade their CL titles for another League title. I just think that you're having a stab at the fans. I just want to say, that at the moment, United are better, and are getting better. Liverpool will get better. And they will win more titles. All I want to say is. Over the last few years. United have been in a different class.

I am a loyal fan. I cried when we lost to Arsenal in the 2005 FA Cup Final, and many, many other occasions. I don't care if they end up in Leicester's position to be honest either. I will still support them. I know what you're trying to say of these fake fans who support clubs which they can't on a map. I hate them too.

But just saying, I am not one of them.

Now, my point is perfectly clear. Let's hope we can talk about another exciting Wednesday night of football.

Looking forward to the Man Utd game tonight!

I like to see Man Utd and Newcastle do well.

Can't wait for the Liverpool, United game at weekend, should be great! :woot:

I live in Scotland, I can't exactly take a weekend trip down :p

I know what you mean though, but that is just because they are one of the largest supported teams in the world.

I usually just watch the games through Sopcast, or on Sky if they're on. Not got Setanta.

Yeah fair play mate (Y). I was not having a go at you, I was just generalising the common Man Utd fan and why I believe it is ruining football. It is even happening at Liverpool, Scousers such as myself are being denied seats because you get people coming from abroad to simply sample the atmosphere and take photograph's all match.

...and it is Martyn ;)

Liverpool v Man Utd this weekend anyway, so I will either be on top of the world or depressed for a while after the match. Hopefully, if we can get a result against Man Utd, that will set us up nicely for our games at Everton, Arsenal, Arsenal and Arsenal :p
