EduardValencia
Uninstalling updates MS deems important just to enjoy theme files that aren't properly built in the first place is pretty foolish. Totally agree Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/573094-windows-update-disables-patched-theme-files/page/2/#findComment-588697258 Share on other sites
gigapixels Veteran Posted July 12, 2007 Veteran Share Posted July 12, 2007 There's no modding needed. Just rename the file correctly and it works. phunkymunky
I got mine back just registering the shsvcs.dll file. regsvr32 shsvcs.dll Didn't work before, but at least now the HilledSE style works. Can't seem to get AeroClear to work though. Laughing Man
Of course the keyword is "updates that Microsoft deems important". Which I've seen plenty that may seem important to Microsoft but not to me at all. phunkymunky
That didn't resolve your problem. Try reading the previous posts. :) I copied over the patched uxtheme.dll, themui.dll and shsvcs.dll. I then tried to apply the HilledSE style and got the error. I did see your post on www.aeroxp.com, and everything was in the locations you mentioned. I then tried registering all the dlls again, uxtheme and themui errored when registering. shsvcs.dll registered fine, and HilledSE worked after that.
