the_guy
2 questions: 1. Does this version fix the unofficial version problem I reported in the main forum? 2. Is this like other versions and coughs up blood when installing this over the June version. Also, why is .Net 2 included if you have .Net 3? .Net 3 includes .Net 2. the_guy Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/573608-autopatcher-x64-july-2007/#findComment-588699724 Share on other sites
gandolas
^ Me and Blaze are yet starting to manage things so that our releases are Full AIO compatible. And yes, I think it's fixed. You aren't supposed to install over an older version, since it's a Core release. I think the install script should avoid that. I just "explained" that it has both .Net 2.0 amd 3.0 (and yes, they are in the same file). +theblazingangel MVC Posted July 13, 2007 MVC Share Posted July 13, 2007 the install script won't stop you overwriting one core release with another! but as gandolas says, it shouldn't be done because core releases don't include cleanup instructions for older releases. i think perhaps gandolas means v2 & v3 are the same setup file. i agree it's a little confusing though... gandolas
Hum... We should have some kind of detection like that Blaze. Is it possible to create a way do detect and warn if a older Core release is in that folder (giving the opportunity to continue if you want to merge versions)? Ok, i fixed that. I hope it's more clear now... Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/573608-autopatcher-x64-july-2007/#findComment-588699836 Share on other sites
+theblazingangel MVC Posted July 13, 2007 MVC Share Posted July 13, 2007 ^ well, i could add a warning or something for when a core release is being installed and a release with the same rti file already exists... although thats a little tricky. the installer doesn't really understand what rti files are associated with particular release, all it does is include and install the rti files you tell it to. i could expand the macro code behind rti file installation - if is core release AND if a file with supplied name already exists THEN set core overwrite error... but that would be for any and every rti file you directly include in your release (sub-installers not counted). the option to continue would be pretty useless really, if the user did continue anyway they'd just end up with an unnofficial release which doesn't help them in an AIO situation (just as now), they're forced to reinstall absolutely everything in order to get an official AIO installation with the new release. the best way to go about all of this would be to: a) get absolutely everyone (you gandolas, and all translators, everyone!) making update releases b) and/or have all core releases cleanup after all previous releases (delete/rename/move instructions). this is the case with addon pack creation! (read the new addon-pack SOP (standard operating procedures) manual i wrote, the purpose of which was to prevent this situation with addon packs!). SnowManUK
Hi, http://ap.snowmanuk.net Mirror has been updated. I am also trialling a world-wide Content Distribution Network (CDN) called Coblitz Codeen (see http://codeen.cs.princeton.edu/coblitz/ for info) for the distribution of AP updates. If you download from the "Primary Download Location" link from my mirror, the files will be served by your local CDN node in country or nearest to you. This reduces the BW load on my server, as I upload it once to the CDN then it spreads across the world. Please give it a try the more people that download the better the CDN distributes the file. Any problems please e-mail snowmanuk at hotmail dot com Enjoy, and Keep up the good work AP.... the_guy
This version is looking really good. One question: What is the official opinion about adding the x64 version of tweakui to autopatcher? I've found a file which is tweakui, but for x64. It is official from Microsoft as it still has the digital signature on it from Microsoft. the_guy Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/573608-autopatcher-x64-july-2007/#findComment-588753444 Share on other sites
