JR007
Hey everyone! I have a fairly simply WB question and was wondering if I could get some input please? Currently, I am using Style XP and using this VS. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/55318441/3Ascraps I am in the process of purchasing WB for XP and I am aware that .wba are the themes for WindowBlinds. However, someone told me that I can run a VS (for instance the one I linked) with WB. Is this true? Thanks for the help! :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/573928-windowblinds-visual-styles/ Share on other sites
+unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted July 14, 2007 Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 14, 2007 The link doesn't work for me. Anyway to answer your question, you have a couple of options. 1st. You can hold down ctrl (I think) when clicking on the appearance tab and you should be able to use the msstyles directly. 2nd. You can use skinstudio to convert the msstyle into a windowblind format and use it that way, I haven't used this method in a wile but last time I did there were a few glitches in the conversion process and you might have to tweak a few parts to get it looking correct. JR007
@alex - Perfect, I understand the different options. And to be honest, I was hoping to just be able to use the msstyle directly, which sounds like I can. Thank you! @Nienor - Thanks for the link correction...I had too much information in the original URL. :) Btw, do both you of use WB? Simply put, do you love or hate it... +unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted July 14, 2007 Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 14, 2007 I used to use it back when I used windows xp. I thought it was well worth the money, the only issue I had was that there wasn't as many wb themes that I liked compared to msstyles. It took me a while to sort the wheat from the chaff. My objectdesktop subscription runs out in August and if I was still using windows I would have no hesitation in re-purchasing it for another year. #Michael
Both the newest versions of WB5.5 and skinstudio 5 are able to use msstyles with virtually no problems. When I used XP (I now use vista), I routinely would convert msstyles (LE4 for example) and would have no problems. The previews over at wincustomize about skinstudio 6 and windowblind 6 say that they have changed the converting process and made it even less of a hassle. So I say dump stylexp (why even pay for it when you can use msstyles for free with a modded uxtheme) and go with windowblinds. Island Dog
Just to add what the other posters have said, it's quite easy to convert a .msstyle for use with WindowBlinds. I wrote a guide and made a video showing the process on Vista, but it's the same for XP. http://islanddog.wincustomize.com/articles.aspx?aid=147196 :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/573928-windowblinds-visual-styles/#findComment-588705546 Share on other sites
