Hey,

I would like to spray paint my laptop [or any other way to change the color and design lol]. I currently live in Hong Kong but I am going to daytona beach florida for uni in august.

Does anyone know any professional spray paint guys around those areas?

[laptop specs and model is in my sig]

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

if it's plastic a decent spray paint will do just fine. If you want it to really shine be prepared to do a lot of sanding. I'm currently spraying a case and it's already looking quite good but still needs a lot of sanding and a few more sprays before I get to the clear coat stage.

well I can spray paint my own laptop but I don't want to. the design I have in mind is complicated lol. the covers would be jet black and on the front cover in icy blue it would say RF.

Thanks for the suggestions and help so far guys. I'll check around with auto shops and see if they can do it.

Would you say it was a pain in the butt to do, or it was not that bad?
Honest It wasn't to bad, if you know what your doing. I work on dell laptops all day at work so I knew how to take it apart what could be painted and what couldn't.
what did you use to cover the ventilation holes?
I didn't cover them, I sprayed it directly on the plastic. with the system board removed.

This also wouldn't be very hard btw, also your colors with Paint for plastic are pretty limited.
That not bad, but you need to clean the screen ;) looks like you got normal wear and tear smudges on there

how long did you let the paint dry?

2 days max, i had one of these before, you did a great job dude.... but what kind of spray did you use, i used the one for "paint on the wall" , but yours looks different, howvere,, i used it on a desktop case... looks fine so far, but can be easily scratched, so i guess, i wont be doing the same thing for a laptop...

You used ordinary spray paint on a laptop?!? Did you coat it with a clear "seal" paint afterwards to stop it chipping off etc?

If you want it done properly, take the plastics down to your local car sprayer ;)

How much will you charge to paint someone laptop? I will like maybe a darker gray or so on my e1505 dell

I just did this to prove it could be done nice, and cheap. Personal Use only, but if you need help doing it just PM me, and I will help as much as I can.

Here's a list of the parts I used

* Krylon Fusion for plastics

* Painters Tape

* X-Acto blade ( For Cutting away drips on the edges, and tape)

* Gloves (would be a great idea, I still have paint all over my hands)

* 220 Grit sand paper (Its the kind they use on Cars)

I painted some more plastics to show you, I did these this morning took me 20 minutes to prep everything (Taping, Laying out news paper) and then it took an hour to dry.

I would say all the supplies cost me about 15 bucks, which is way cheaper then a cover or anything like that.
