Ryan R
I converted the code from VB 2005 to 2008 and might have lost some settings in the associated xml/manifest/security settings that go with the app - not very sure about all that tbh. Does the error appear every time you start the app, do you have all the latest .NET versions and service packs installed? morpheus2n
Sofar I have found no problems with it I have even cleard my games folder and started again to put it to the test and all works well I especially love the steam ID thing as this was the main problem I had with the older versions!!!!!! This is a great welcome thanks for that!!!!! The only thig I would change/add if possible is the ability to auto fill the fields from allgame.com but this could be rather hard to achivie as the layout of allgame.com would course problems, but hay thats just a feat I would like cos i'm lazy lol Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/576486-rel-vista-game-explorer-editor/page/18/#findComment-590599964 Share on other sites
ryoran109
I've got .NET CLR 3.5.30729. That is the latest version, correct? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/576486-rel-vista-game-explorer-editor/page/18/#findComment-590600374 Share on other sites
Ryan R
@morpheus - glad you like it. EE will automatically return results from AllGame.com (thanks to Julius for that bit of code). @ryoran - As far as I know it's .NET 3.5 SP1 - but it's not something I follow closely :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/576486-rel-vista-game-explorer-editor/page/18/#findComment-590600580 Share on other sites
ryoran109
That's probably what I have. In either case, yes, it happens every time I start the program. I can send you the details of the error if you want. kingbob
I can't seem to get VGEE to work at all. Everytime I open it, it says that I have no games and it will work when I fix the problem. But I do have games in there??? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/576486-rel-vista-game-explorer-editor/page/18/#findComment-590652916 Share on other sites

Sebbbb
I have created the following web page for you and others who are new to the VGEE concept:http://vge.editor.googlepages.com/legacygames Hey, nice program... It is working quite nice over here. The only problem I have is that when I try to run the game, it will only run the one I used to make it (I used SWBFII to make a new icon for Supreme Commander, but when I click to run the game, it will only run SWBFII). Does that always happen? Or am I doing something wrong? Please reply as fast as you can :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/576486-rel-vista-game-explorer-editor/page/18/#findComment-590657848 Share on other sites
Ryan R
Yeah that definately shouldn't be happening. What you can do in this case if open the VGE - r/click the game - Customize - change the shortcut Target to the proper game. silverdoe
Plz makes E-Explorer compatible with Windows Media Center and add .mcl files to view games in extra menu of WMC Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/576486-rel-vista-game-explorer-editor/page/18/#findComment-590681456 Share on other sites
ryoran109
Hey, that's a really good idea... I know Collectorz.com's Movie Collector program does that, it adds a menu in the Extras section of WMC. It's obviously possible, I wouldn't have the slightest idea of how to do it though. Ryan R
The MCE functions are already built into the EE code thanks to Julius On a side note, I have discovered that you can use these 'run' commands to access VGE-related stuff quicker (in some instances): shell:games - Opens the VGE shell:gametasks - Opens the C:\Users\profile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\GameExplorer folder (Full list: http://computerperformance.co.uk/vista/vista_shell.htm) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/576486-rel-vista-game-explorer-editor/page/18/#findComment-590712996 Share on other sites
zeke009
Great idea, but I just can't get this to run. I've read over the guides you posted and tried adding Quake 3 (pretty old) and some other games that do not automatically go in VGE (CoD4 and Team Fortress 2), but VGEE will not run (no games found) and manual edits to VGE just make the original entry disappear. It's probably one of those famous "P.E.B.K.A.C." errors, any tips? Ryan R
2 things to try: 1. Use the dummy game (NFS3) which is linked to from the VGE website 2. Try creating a new Windows profile - you may have a bad/corrupt one as far as the VGE goes. Ryan R
Maybe there's an issue with you using a Spanish version of Windows. VGEE was initially made with VB .NET 2005 Express - but I converted the project to .NET 2008 Express when making version 2.15. I'm not sure if all the security settings (certificates, manifest files, etc) were carried over properly (since my Windows security is mostly disabled, I use Comodo IS). On another note, you may have already heard that Google Pages will soon be no more. My various sites hosted there will be moved to Google Sites. This may mean that all the links to the project will no longer work - and the built-in Update-Checker will likely cease functioning. When that happens, I'll release a patch , version 2.15a or something, to address the second issue.
