-Alex-
Well I asked here when I first got my Macbook and nobody seemed to know of a way of doing it, but I have recently discovered this nifty little app: InsomniaX. Does exactly what you'd expect. It runs in your menu bar and when enabled, if you shut your lid, it prevents it from going to sleep. Nice little trick since Apple don't provide a way to do it in OS X. For the people who are paranoid about their Mac overheating, Apple *do* have a way for you to do this, it's just.. a pain. In other words, you need to have a keyboard/mouse plugged in, shut your lid, then hit a key on the external keyboard. That is the only official supported way. Anyway, have fun :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/583087-mac-shutting-your-laptop-lid-without-going-into-to-sleep-mode/ Share on other sites
Quillz
It's an interesting concept, but I think I'd still prefer to have my MacBook go into sleep mode when the lid is closed. For one thing, doesn't the Sudden Motion Sensor only work in sleep mode? -Alex-
You can (and I do) use the SMS in normal mode too. For example, I use it so if i tap my screen on the left it goes to the previous track, and if I tap it on the right, it skips to the next. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/583087-mac-shutting-your-laptop-lid-without-going-into-to-sleep-mode/#findComment-588799752 Share on other sites
