New chevy malibu interior...

Recommended Posts

Since when did the Malibu get so ugly? The last time I've seen one it was rather nice looking, that just looks like total crap.

Looks like the Dodge Caliber. Way to go GM! I'm not too impressed with these cars, as I stated previously there are many reasons to purchase another vehicle besides this one. I wonder what these go for brand new? I'd assume 20-25k? If so way over priced!

Well you guys fail to realize that this car is still a 15-16 second car, SS or not. I ran a Malibu SS (or another chevy family car thats an SS) and its a slow car none the less. Why would you want a FRONT wheel drive car anyhow? I own a 4 door car, with more hp and torque and its ALL wheel drive. I dont understand who would purchase a 4 door, FWD car for any reason. RWD or AWD. No disrespect meant to anyone just stating the facts. Plus american cars, compared to imports.... 1.)Dependability. 2.) Cost 3.)Resale value 4.) Gas mileage 5.) quality. list goes on and on.
Just ONE more thing that car lacks. Its not a sports car, its not meant to be either, so why market it to be one? Good point Kudo's.

it's a god damn mid size car for ****s sake. you have to be slightly retarded if you think that they're going to market it as a sports car. This car is trying to contend in the mid size category, along with the Taures, Camry, Altima, Accord, Sonata, Galant and some others. It's pretty stupid to be saying OMFG IT'S FWD OH GOD NO WAY.

Agian, it's a mid-size car, people who are after these cars are mainly after safety and dependability, something with family and value in mind.

never the less this malibu will still suck, if it becomes anything like what the current impala is like, then they've got something.

by 15-16 second car, are you referring to the 0-60 acceleration time?

I wouldn't trust an American car. In 3 years they all feel like they are falling apart and the engines get doggy.

And it has nothing to do with where it was built or assembled. The engineering of the other manufacturers is far supperior to anything done here in the states.

My Chevelle is holding out.

Your talking out your ass. I am well aware that its a mid sized car, mine is as well (and still runs low 13s high 12s with minor mods). I never said they ARE marketing it after a sports car, I made the point that no matter how much HP they try to put into it... it will never be anything but slow mid sized family sedan. Yes it will compete with the camry, altima so on however its still a chevy so your rant about

people who are after these cars are mainly after safety and dependability, something with family and value in mind.
is completely UNTRUE. I have a 5 star crash rating test results, very DEPENDABLE, and
OMFG IT'S FWD OH GOD NO WAY
I also have AWD. Oh wait whats so great about AWD? Well you have more control, better in bends, better in snow/slick areas where the FWD will spin/loose control. OH and its a 4 door family car wrapped in leather. What more can I ask for? thats right, I have it all in my FAMILY SEDAN. This car is ****, simply put. Your argument is weak, you have no real point so you might as well sit down and accept the fact that the car isnt worth you looking like an ass over.
hmm...wow...my 2000 protege, 106 horsepower, probably less now, gets 1/4 in 16 seconds so i doubt this 263hp would be 16 seconds
Lets look at the facts here.

Malibu SS

C/D TEST RESULTS

ACCELERATION: Seconds

Zero to 30 mph: 2.4

40 mph: 3.5

50 mph: 5.1

60 mph: 6.9

70 mph: 8.9

80 mph: 11.2

90 mph: 14.9

100 mph: 19.2

110 mph: 24.4

Street start, 5?60 mph: 6.9

Top-gear acceleration, 30?50 mph: 2.9

50?70 mph: 3.9

Standing 1/4-mile: 15.3 sec @ 91 mph

Top speed (governor limited): 115 mph

15.3 second car? Thats the SS which has 240 bhp @ 5800 rpm and Torque 240 lb-ft @ 2800 rpm

Your car may be lighter or a 19 second car.

Point proven either way, its useless. I can pay 21k and get a much better car with AWD, turbo, navigation... list goes on and on... and alot more dependable. Malibu for the loss.

i thought you drove a WRX? since when is that considered a mid-size car? The Legacy is compareable to what we're talking about here.

you can't compare your car to these cars like the Malibu, what you should be comparing to is the Lancer or maybe the older SRT4. The way you're talking, you might as well compete with ALL cars right?

We all agree that american engines are very ****ty. The figures you posted for the SS is for the current model and as i expected, sad. Surely, it'll be just as bad for the 08. If i were them it's almost an embarrasement to advertise that car especially the SS when you've got the Camry and Altima producing i think it was 268 or 278HP in a 3.5L engine. The Legacy is no different, only producing 240HP on a 3L V6 and the gas milage is just bad at 17 while you get 23+ with the big three imports. Again, your car is completely different so don't even say those are weak 16 second cars, i could care less. When do i ever get the chance to time myself or floor it and hit high speeds, if the traffic in LA doesn't stop me the CHP surely will.

If you want to find out why people buy cars like the Malibu why don't you ask the people.

and no you can't get a WRX for 21K (if that is what you drive)

Imprezza - 17K 2.5L 170 HP (same as my Altima except for the boxer engine) obviously there is a size and weight difference)

WRX - 24K 224 HP

WRX STI - 34K 290 HP

I can easily get a WRX TR for 21k its not hard shop around. 224=WRONG. 232 stock.

Regardless Malibu sucks.

Sorry... but the car you drive... you feel every pothole, every dip in the road... I was unfortunate to drive one for 2 weeks and it was the worst ride I've ever drove. They are loud and completely unrefined when it comes to comfort. Ever since then I won't even go near my friends STi. I had a headache a few times. The Malibu's aren't designed for racing... there suspension/components are designed for comfortable rides... 263 HP is good... and its meant for better passing response, etc... not racing 0-60 or 1/4 times... although 6 seconds isn't that bad for a 0-60 time.

Oh FYI... the WRX I drove has been in the shop multiple times. Overall I think that the WRX sucks... sure its got pep... but thats all it has going for it.

Your comparing apples (a sporty compact), to oranges (a family mid-size sedan).

i swear i was considering to test drive one just so i can come back and say the same thing.

Depends on what mods are done to your buddies car. Also depends on what yr/model his car is. I have 40k miles on mine not one issue. I have full leather interior, awd, and all the power I need for daily driving + track time. Can't knock a car that not only fast but AWD and 5 star crash rating as well. No problems with mine as of yet and im 40k in. Sounds like your buddy either mis treated his or got himself a lemon.

Ok funny guy, your talking down upon a car you never drove nor come close to being able to afford is that why your knocking it? Let me guess, minivan? Your post was such a waste, learn how to compare/contrast before you open your mouth to such ignorance again.

ha... thats the only thing they did right on my old car... everything else sucked.

haha. I kind of agree with you on that. My friend drives a 1996 Pontiac Grand am. The original engine has 412,000 km's on it and its still running strong. The car body is in okay shape though, its showing signs of age.

speaking of ignorance...

I don't need to try it to knock it. I've tried to put it simple terms to you, about comparing different classes of vehicles, but your comprehension skills are not fully developed yet or all that rattling from your stiff ride has knocked some wires loose and i don't mean in the engine bay.
