NFL determined Patriots have violated rules

Belichick has been fined $500k, the team $250K, and if they make the playoffs they lose a 1st round pick and if they dont, a 2nd and 3rd round picks

From now on anyone who does this needs to forfeit the game, and they should make that retroactive in previous proven cases.

They better hope they make the playoffs, becuase lossing a 2nd and 3rd pick is worse then then a 1st round pick, much worse.

BUT

Since they are very deep, what if they traded away a good veteran that is somewhat replaceable for a 1st or 2nd round pick?

Interesting point about the SB XXXIX game with Pats vs Eagles.

The Pats currently have two first round draft picks, one they automatically get, and another they picked up from San Francisco:

If the Patriots lose their first-rounder next season they still will have a first-round pick, obtained from San Francisco in the deal that brought Moss from Oakland.

So it looks like if they make the playoffs (and it's likely that they will), they still have a first round pick. If they don't make it, they have two. I have to say that the punishment handed down wasn't hard enough in this case.

Also worth mentioning:

The NFL said the camera was seized before the end of the first quarter and had no impact on the game.

Source.

Take away the single touchdown the Pats scored in the first quarter, the score would've likely been 31-14. Jets still didn't have a chance. It's a shame too, they've got a lot of good talent on the Patriots.

If you're going to make them lose something they accomplished in the past, why stop at last Sundays game? Why not go back to other games where they were thought to have been cheating, such as the Super Bowl against the Eagles in 2005? Where does it end if you go back?

best post of the day

o... and i do not believe that the punishment was severe enough... while we will never know the impact that it has had on previous games/years :cough: Superbowl win over eagles :cough:... but I believe that it should have resulted in a forfeit to the Jets as well as a few game susp for Belichick

How astonishing. Even without "cheating" we dismantled the Chargers without breaking a sweat. What do you boys have to say about that?

And for the record, Chris Collinsworth is anti-Patriot.

just shows you how stupid the organization really is... the talent on the team should have allowed them to win without the spying crap
