CHELSEA STATEMENT

20.09.2007

Chelsea Football Club and Jos? Mourinho have agreed to part company today (Thursday) by mutual consent

I'm sad that this has had to happened. Occasionally, he will say words that are not meant to be said and try to do things that is really perplexing, but he was a brilliant tactician. I'm not a supporter for Chelsea but I do feel that maybe the Premier League have just lost a good coach, unless of course he moves to another Premier League club. Before he came, it was only about Sir Alex Ferguson against Arsene Wenger but he added a bit more to the mix when he joined. Now, I wonder who will Chelsea select for manager as they aren't that many that's going to take the job with an owner who likes to run things in the background.

But everybody knows people from Manchester only support Man City, whereas Man Utd has a following from glory hunting supporters all over the world;))

You know, I'm a bit peeved at this statement. You can still support a club even though you've never visited them or never live in the town itself. Sure, some of them may have loyalties that will instantly change to a much more successful club when called but there are those who still passionately support their club without ever setting foot into their grounds. I just find the statement ignorant and insulting to these supporters, some of them in which case are supporting your club but if you feel otherwise then I apologise, but what I've said has not changed.

As for me, I've supported Manchester United since I was very young though in my case I did get the chance to stay in Manchester for two years when I was little. I supported the red half of the city but lived in the blue half as the houses were in much better condition : ! All in all, they were two years of wonderful memories and I hope I get to go again in the near future. Here's to hoping Air Asia X starts offering their services at the turn of the year :DD !

I honestly did not mean what I have said in the way you have taken it. People can support Liverpool, Arsenal or Man Utd from all around the world, I have nothing against that. What I am not a fan of though is glory hunters who are just following the crowd, and it seemed to happen an awful lot with Man Utd over the last ten years. I remember when Chelsea won the league...a lot of Man Utd "fans" started to "support" Chelsea, that is what I dislike. A lot of people have gone off Chelsea now, and I that was definitely evident in Mourinho's last match against Rosenberg, when only 26,000 people turned up to see Chelsea play in a Champions League match. That would never happen at Anfield, every match is a sell out within minutes and it is almost impossible to get tickets.

You say you have been to Manchester and like it, and I respect that. I obviously cannot stand Man Utd or Manchester in general because I am a Scouser and I have been brought up that way, although I imagine it is difficult for many people to understand that who are not from Manchester or Liverpool. Mancunians hate Scousers, and Scousers hate Mancunians. Of course, that is largely brought on by the two great football clubs but there is also a lot of other history behind the two city's.

Anyway my original point was that every Man Utd fan who posted in this thread is not from Manchester, I suppose my point was less clear than I could of made it and was obviously interpreted the wrong way because this is largely a international forum! You see it a lot though, most of Manchester supports Man City, the rest of the world supports Man Utd...

I heard he is already in talks with the Portuguese FA!

Probably not to replace Scolari, but he will still play some role.

FALSE!!

Good, I hated that arrogant prick.

Yeah, but one of the most ever best coaches, winning almost everything a coach can win.. And he is still young..

He brought 2 championship victory's on a club who didn't win over 50 years!!

Now why could he be arrogant??

Sky Sports News understands departed Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is to take up a position with the Portuguese FA.

Mourinho has left Stamford Bridge by mutual consent, with Chelsea confirming the decision in the early hours of Thursday morning.

There has already been speculation as to his next post, with the role of Portugal national team coach chalked up as the favourite.

According to a family friend, Mourinho has confirmed he is heading back to his homeland for a role with his country's football federation.

Mourinho will reportedly assume a job within the national setup, with the view to eventually becoming coach of the Portugal team.

Scolari ban

The source also claims that Mourinho told the Chelsea players at the club's training ground on Thursday morning that he would be working with the national side within the next 48 hours.

Luiz Felipe Scolari is currently coach of Portugal and reports have suggested he is wanted in the role until the 2010 World Cup finals.

However, Scolari's future in the post has recently come under scrutiny following his altercation with Ivica Dragutinovic during Portugal's 1-1 draw with Serbia.

Scolari has been given a four-match ban by Uefa, and been fined 12,000 euros (?8,400), for the assault on Dragutinovic.

Ooopsy dopsy! =D

Sick of Mourinho pwnage, arent we around here...

Martyn that is not going to happen, since Scolari will remain, no newspaper Portuguese has talk about that, only speculation from English newspapers has always, since England has a lot of newspapers who live from sensationalism and not from real news..

I doubt Scolari will be replaced, he is a top, top manager.

I think Mourinho will work for the Portuguese FA though, if only in an advisory role for now. That was all I was saying!!

He was a great tactician, but I wont say he was great for the premiership. I would only call a manager "great for the EPL" if he actually manages to help a team play exciting, entertaining football instead of 1-0 wins.

he was very quotable though. I like his and wenger's quotes.

Oh yes the classic 0-0 for 89 minutes then all of a sudden they would score.

I know a lot of people hated Jose but he bought a lot to the premiership and has a lot of stats behind him to back up the way he is. With his track record i guess you are allowed to be a little arrogant. but his methods and tactics worked a treat for the time that he was there

Shame that he is gone, he was a great manager to chelsea and i think that now he is gone it will be all downhill for chelsea, then you lot will see the real difference.

this is all coming from a guy who doesnt support a football team, more of a rugby guy myself. ;)
