3 new performance and reliability updates for Windows Vista

Recommended Posts

The update configuration took forever so I forcefully rebooted and then the loading bar was so slow at starting up and nothing seemed to work. I had to insert my disc to do system restore and now it's fixed. I guess I have to wait till Windows Update finishes configuring completely...

Lesson learned.

Updated x64 Vista without any problems. Haven't noticed any improvements, then again there's none to be had, Vista already performs very well. Still, always nice to keep up to date :)

The first update causes my system to stall on boot (even safe mode).

At first I applied all four but was able to system restore, then started installing one by one and it stalled with just the first.

I can't install any of the updates. I can download them since I use genuine software :D , but when the installer starts, suddenly I get the message failed, that's all...

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I use the Dutch version of Home Premium? Though I think that is strange, because I can select the Dutch documentation at the download page. There's no sign of an english-restricted version...?

David maybe you should. Cause one of the patch improve battery life too I thought its stated. :)

Yupe, I do know of the numerous improvements but I'm concern of not being able to boot my system (or any other negative side effects) after installing those patches. FYI, I'd disabled System Restore since day 1. And installing Vista again is not an option... :(

Swell, before applying the first update my startup time was ~30s or less. After applying the first update it takes greater than 60s to startup.

EDIT: And now I see the "shutting down" screen takes about ~40s to do its thing, which before installing the updates I did not even notice.

System Restore to the rescue!
