BOSTON (AP) -- Sidney Crosby doesn't have plans to become an NHL tough guy.

"I don't think so," the Pittsburgh captain said Thursday night after his first NHL fight finished off a "Gordie Howe hat trick" in the Penguins' 5-4 shootout win over the Boston Bruins. "It's not something I'm going to make a habit of, by any means."

Crosby scored a goal, assisted on two by Evgeni Malkin, and dropped the gloves with Boston's Andrew Ference for the first fight of his 194-game NHL career.

"I don't know if it was during the whistle or during the play but I just remember him punching me and his glove came off," Crosby said.

...

Crosby fought Ference to at least a draw 5:09 into the second period. Ference, given an extra two minutes for starting the bout, had a cut over his left eye. It wasn't clear if that was caused by a punch or Ference's helmet.

Well, I just watched the outdoor Heritage Classic and I think they should do that every year. 72,000 people watched the game outside and another 10,000 watched it on the big screen of the HSBC Arena.

Only the one in Edmonton was referred to as the Heritage Classic. They referred to this years game as the Winter Classic. I also hope that they make this a yearly thing, but not a regular season game. I would love to see the All Star game be played outside.

Well I hope Montreal or Vancouver goes to final round of the Stanley cup..since the leafs sucks..and the another canadian team is been there already.

:p BTW, the Winter Classic was cool..especially when its much cooler then regular hockey game.

I wouldn't talk too soon, but he definitely looks like he could be having a resurgance (thankfully). I really hope he starts turning it on like Kovalev has done this year. On that note Kovalev is just amazing this year.

I have just been browsing www.hockeybuzz.com and there seems to be some talk of a trade between Nashville and Washington.

Nashville would send 2 #1's, Dumont, Zidlicky and Suter (possibly Weber depending on who you talk to ) to Washington for Ovechkin and Kolzig?

Wonder what the chances of that actually happening are...

of course kovy is, as soon as gainey said if he doesn't step up he's done, he stepped up, best player on the team:)

and honestly, ovechkin is not going anywhere... and i quote gord miller "there are two people who write hockey rumours, 13 years old in their parents basement, and 30 year olds in their parents basement"

Damn looks like Ovechkin is happy with one of the shittiest teams in the league and is just about finished setting up a 6 year extension.

Wow 13 years, $124 million. At least he's worth it i guess.

rajputwarrior, i thought you were a habs fan, or is it more of the fact that you like to see the leafs getting killed. :p

ducks are my number two team. I was 6 years old when the first movie came out and seven when the team came in the NHL. I got the jerseys and the stanley cup banner to prove it. Disney apparently had a huge effect on me as a kid... I am a habs fan because my dad raised me to become one and i love them more :)

But yes, i love seeing the leafs getting killed. And by LA too, that's just awesome, they are the worst team in the NHL.

and i agree with boffaa, that team honestly doesn't even look like it has a bright future...
