Stokkolm
I've started using Kubuntu 7.04 and I'm looking for a programmers opinion on the best programming tool for Linux. I'm looking to program PHP, Javascript, and of course do some web design. My favorites under Windows are Microsoft Expression Web and PHPEdit, I realize that I probably won't get anything near Expression Web under linux and that's fine. Thanks in advance for your suggestions! Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/592789-best-linux-programming-application/ Share on other sites

kyro
in Gnome there is Gedit (which is use) at Kubuntu, you should be having KATE editor. this is nice for web-development ide, you can even try Bluefish editor. attached screenies for you. UKer
I personally use Quanta, it's very feature rich, and has some cool features. If you're looking for a basic app this isn't for you though. Angel Blue01
My problem with Kedit, Kate, BlueFish and Quanta is that none of them have a real autocomplete: start typing a tag and it offers list of suggestions, type an attribute and it offers that in for the context, and variables and functions in PHP or other languages. That is a nice feature, but not absolutely necessary. Gedit and Kate both look more like text editors anyway. tablet_user
That is a nice feature, but not absolutely necessary. Like in windows i write my C programs and html pages in notepad2. so in linux i use gedit. I understand that, I only said it because he listed them with BlueFish and Quanta when he said he wanted the tag autocompleting feature. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/592789-best-linux-programming-application/#findComment-588905555 Share on other sites
