Smigit
I'm pretty sure Eset runs on a subscription model where as long as your subscription is active you get a free update to new software releases. :: Lyon ::
AVG cannot touch NOD32. AVG free if thats what your talking about finds about 85 % of viruses and NOD32 finds around 98 %. Plus it can find malware and spyware. And Kaspersky finds about 99%? :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/597121-eset-nod32-antivirus-version-3/page/3/#findComment-588956773 Share on other sites

Smigit
Last I read Kasperskys footprint wasn't alot more if more at all than Nod32. Thats as of version 7 anyway, believe 6 was a different story. (I use Nod32 but) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/597121-eset-nod32-antivirus-version-3/page/3/#findComment-588956965 Share on other sites
+Warwagon MVC Posted October 30, 2007 MVC Share Posted October 30, 2007 Kaspersky is also leaves a bigger foot print. actually I installed kaspersky on vmware and the footprint was actually smaller than NOD32 on my main machine by about 5 to 10 megs Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/597121-eset-nod32-antivirus-version-3/page/3/#findComment-588957172 Share on other sites
kribby
there is a difference between resource consumption and on-access scanning performance....the noticed slowdowns with antivirus software is because of the scanning performance of an engine when files are accessed I would love to see a comparison between NOD32 3.0 and KAV 7.0.....maybe I'll do one myself :3 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/597121-eset-nod32-antivirus-version-3/page/3/#findComment-588957329 Share on other sites

Nightwind Hawk
Resource UsageNot to shabby really. What's 27MB of resources on a 2GB PC. Wow.. NOD32 2.7 is using 45 MB of memory right now! So it seems it's going even lower? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/597121-eset-nod32-antivirus-version-3/page/3/#findComment-588960988 Share on other sites
Randolph
What my question is this: KAV or NOD32 (latest versions for both as of 10/31/07)? I am just wondering which is better. I am liking the new NOD32 screenshots alot. All I can say is I've been using NOD32 for over a year, and I've been really happy. :) Fast and light! I should probably try restarting and see where it is. But anyways, here you go! Toology
You have to take into account what protection modules and settings you have enabled. I have DMON, EMON, ThreatSense, and the custom UI disabled in v2.7 because I don't need them. I get ~22K. Malisk
27K? 22K? 20K? Wow! You guys don't mean 20M - 27M? A drop from 42.9 MB to 22 K would be more than massive, and I have barely seen any app consuming that little. Nightwind Hawk
Alright, so this is a new day and my computer was off all night... still over 40 MB  I'm XP x64, perhaps that makes a difference for this program? I think I'm gonna need a reformat soon.. either the new logmein or diskeeper has been causing me a lot of problem. 1Frothy
I'm on the verge of switching to NOD32. I'm running it/been running it since Tuesday and it's proven a real winner. DaViD_BRaNDoN
Guys, does NOD32 Antivirus V3.0 still have IMON (Internet MONitor in V2.7)? Or has it been removed and repackaged into ESET Smart Security V3.0 (ESET Personal Firewall)? ESET Personal Firewall• Firewall monitors all traffic between a protected computer and other computers in the local network and in the Internet. High quality protection is provided by the following functions: • Scanning of application protocols HTTP and POP3 (used for Internet browsing and for retrieving email from servers) for infiltrations. . . . Argi
IMON is still included in Nod32 from what I can tell. You don't need to buy ESS to get basic HTTP protection.
