DirtyLarry Veteran Posted November 9, 2007 Veteran Share Posted November 9, 2007 Okay, I have not stayed in the loop with gaming rigs ever since I got my XBox 360, which is over a year ago, so I admit I am definitely not in the know about the latest and greatest components. While at one point in time I could tell you, I do not even know what the latest GPU's are out there. I had no money, knew I could not upgrade, so quite frankly I just did not pay attention as I normally would, as it was a tease as much as anything else. I truly had no plans of upgrading my comp until mid next year, if I even could, however, I got an email from Tiger Direct, and it seems to be a decent deal. My current specs are as follows AMD 64 3500 2 GIG PC3200 Ram XFi Plat (which I could use in this new rig) Nvidia 6800 Ultra (AGP) So as you can see, my comp is very old. So is this deal from Tiger Direct a good one or not? More specifically, how are the Nvidia 7300 GT cards? Is the CPU decent? My main concern looking at this, would be the PSU, seems very low for an SLI rig. Finally, and the main reason I would even do this, would I be able to run Crysis at all??? I am guessing that if this comp can get by for now, I can eventually upgrade some components. My biggest thing is getting myself into the "now" so to speak and making the jump to PCI-E. But if everything in this deal is absolute crap, I will just hold off. So that is it, I am wondering what are your thoughts, and I need them as soon as possible, as this deal will run out, they always do. TIA, DL
Mindovermaster Global Moderator Posted November 9, 2007 Global Moderator Share Posted November 9, 2007 7300? a very low gfx card. Intel Pentium D? worse than the lowest Dual core Ultra PSU? crap. nforce chipset? FTL..
Yusuf M. Veteran Posted November 9, 2007 Veteran Share Posted November 9, 2007 Heh, I was just looking at the deal 30 minutes ago. Those specs are quite low and you won't get much performance out of that system. It isn't even worth having two GeForce 7300GT's in SLi. The performance boost is negligible in today's games. It would be a good deal for an extremely super duper low budget gaming PC. Your current PC is better.
Mindovermaster Global Moderator Posted November 9, 2007 Global Moderator Share Posted November 9, 2007 you aren't playing Crysis on that..
DirtyLarry Veteran Posted November 9, 2007 Author Veteran Share Posted November 9, 2007 Damn, I did not realize it was a Pentium D, all I saw was the Dual in green and thought it was a Core Duo. Oh well, I figured with a price like that, it had to be crap. I just thought for some crazy reason perhaps it was to good to be true (which of course, it never is). Thanks for the fast replies. Looks like a long time before I get a new comp. you aren't playing Crysis on that.. Yep, you made that crystal clear with your first response.
