Altec Lansing VS2121 sound card?

Recommended Posts

I need to know what sound card goes with the Altec Lansing VS2121. I was working at it and it suddenly disappeared. This hasn't happened before andI read a lot of other places on the net telling me to get a new sound card. I also don't know wher I could get one. Someone please help, thank you.

It doesn't matter which sound card you have, computer speakers should work with any sound card. Did you check your Windows Volume Control to see if it's muted or the volume sliders turned down? If you don't see the volume control in the system tray, click Start, Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Volume Control. Did you check if your speakers are plugged into the green jack, and are the speakers getting power (is the light on?).

Which Operating System are you using? Install this system information utility http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php then post here which "Mainboard" you have, then click on the "Multimedia" button and post which "Device Audio" and "Audio Playback" it shows you have.

I do not see the volume control icon at the bottom right. The computer says that it doesn't setect anything and I am sure I have everything hooked up right. The green light is on. I ran the program, this is the information you asked for except the audio playback. I couldn't find that one.

Mainboard: Asus Puffer

Device Audio: 82801FB (ICH6) High Definition Audio Controller

What do I do from here?

If your windows volume control is greyed out and you can't move any sliders, it means your sound card drivers are not installed or loaded. Try reinstalling your sound card drivers, from what I could find out, your on-board audio is Realtek ALC880 8-channel High Definition Audio CODEC

Download and install drivers from here:

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/

Click on High Definition Audio Codecs (Software), and choose the version for your OS (the version of Windows you have).

Post back wether this works or not.

It looks like the Realtek site is down... Try from here:

http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/index2.html

Try one of these:

Realtek High Definition audio driver 1.81

Realtek High Definition audio driver 1.81 for Windows Vista

If they don't work, then try the Realtek AC97 audio drivers

Another download site, just in case: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/REALTEK/
