Joni_78
Which would be the best torrent client for leopard? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/604250-best-torrent-client-for-leopard/ Share on other sites
AmpCoder
I use Transmission (http://transmission.m0k.org/) as it is free and I really like the interface and options that it provides. russellc
I agree with AmpCoder. Transmission is a lot better than before. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/604250-best-torrent-client-for-leopard/#findComment-589029898 Share on other sites
Quillz
The latest release of Transmission, 0.94, is the best by far. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/604250-best-torrent-client-for-leopard/#findComment-589029962 Share on other sites
b0se
Transmission for me. Yum. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/604250-best-torrent-client-for-leopard/#findComment-589030049 Share on other sites
MasterC
I like Azureus because of Vuze and built in encryption. Also, isn't Transmission still blocked on some trackers? DrunkenMaster
Haven't had problems with Transmission at all with any trackers. It now supports p2p encryption (in last 2 weeks or so) which helps. I wish Apple would release JRE6 for OS X. It supposedly (on PC) has considerably lower CPU and memory usage which would make it my default client. Problem with transmission, IMO, is that you can select to not download files, but it still adds them in the directory and w/ same file size. Not zero size. Azureus doesn't do this and is only reason its still tops for me. John S. Veteran Posted December 1, 2007 Veteran Share Posted December 1, 2007 Azureus is unfortunately the only client I can locate that will allow multiple trackers for a torrent. It's a bit sluggish for me, but I get must faster download times than with Transmission. Quillz
Hmm... I wonder, is there any way to give Azureus a native, Cocoa build? I mean, Cocoa apps can use Java, right? fukachu
Problem with transmission, IMO, is that you can select to not download files, but it still adds them in the directory and w/ same file size. Not zero size. Azureus doesn't do this and is only reason its still tops for me. are you sure about that? im thought when i loaded my torrent, before it managed to connect to anything, i paused it, removed all files but the one i wanted to download and the rest were zero in size. i must be mistaken because im sure you looked into that. im sure this would get fixed in the near future. im pretty impressed with the improvements this has seen recently. im loving transmission. although i think it is somehow eating a lot of bandwidth.. even though slow speeds, limited etc, often Adium can't work on the msn network when im downloading. turn off the downloads and not a problem exists. LTD
It seems there is an update to Transmission every week! Perhaps some of the issues mentioned above have been fixed. It's worth looking in to. DrunkenMaster
Too add, but I can't test as I have a G5, there's a Java 6 build out for 10.4 and 10.5 but you need the Intel procs. Give your apple a little Java, no? http://apple.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/11/27/1547212 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/604250-best-torrent-client-for-leopard/#findComment-589033254 Share on other sites
