Blizzard entertainment and Activision to merge

Not exactly sure why else that these companies would merge besides money and that Blizzard wants to delve into the console market a little more.

Blizzard has always delivered kickass games that were delayed for good reasons. Activision also published many great games based on the Quake 3 engine like SOF2 and the COD series. The merger of two good companies won't necessarily create a better company, or a poor EA-like performing company. It all depends how they'll work together, but both of these companies are successful and not hated like EA which is a giant that just shoves badly made games at us and makes employees work 80 hours a week.

Wow. Blizzard was always one of my favourite game makers, I hope this won't ruin them or their games!

Blizzard's been owned for quite a while by Vivendi, and if that company didn't ruin them I see no reason why this merger will. But I'm sure some anti-corporation people will say it's going to make all their games crap.

Ahem?

Anyway, this is awful. Blizzard was just fine doing their thing by themselves (with the tiny Vivendi looking in from far away) slowly, yet productively. Now, they're going to have a huge conglomerate watching over them. I don't care what they say now, quality will suffer when Activision decides to send some of their off-project programmers over to Blizzard HQ and we WILL be seeing slight hints of ownership in games. I read a joke somewhere about being able to purchase a happy meal in Warcraft. Mark my words: it will come to this.

Oh yeah, and Activision Blizzard is the sh******* name they could possibly come up with.

(with the tiny Vivendi looking in from far away)

Tiny Vivendi?! You're kidding right? Vivendi is a worldwide multi-business corporation worth billions of dollars. There's nothing tiny about it. Vivendi has invested millions into Blizzard, they've had quite a lot to do with the worldwide success of WoW. This merger alone is worth $18.8 billion.

It may mean more game spin offs from Blizzards assortment of big name titles. Not sure if that would be good or bad. I would like to see more of Blizzard style games at a more regular release schedule.

Does Blizzard do anything but Starcraft and World of Warcraft? Not a huge assortment there or choice of genre.
