Sean B. Veteran Posted December 9, 2007 Veteran Share Posted December 9, 2007 (edited) I've just noticed that a new beta website has started. The new Microsoft Download Center is going to be fully functional with Silverlight. Silverlight is the next generation of .NET based media experiences. More information on Silverlight can be found over at it's homepage. When initially loading the website, you will be promt to install Silverlight. You have to have Silverlight installed to view the new download center. Apparently BETA participants are being invited randomly from the Microsoft Connect website. The design is very sleek, and sexy I should add. Other than that, the current download links on the BETA website forward you back to the current Download Center. Hope to hear some official word on this BETA soon, in the mean time check it out. Anyway, I've installed it, restarted Firefox, and it's now stuck itself in an endless loop trying to load. :-/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/605733-microsoft-download-center-beta/#findComment-589046755 Share on other sites
Sean B. Veteran Posted December 9, 2007 Author Veteran Share Posted December 9, 2007 I'm not 100% sure if Silverlight is compatible with Firefox. Try viewing it in IE :). spaceelf
I can understand having the beta, but if it has virtually no functionality, why bother showing it to the public? They're just going to think 'Well, that was interesting, but pointless." It'll be cooler once it's done, anyway. falconhell
it looks great but it feals a bit 'heavy' to me. Its sort of similar to them building the website in flash. why bother when html will do!:) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/605733-microsoft-download-center-beta/#findComment-589187823 Share on other sites
