Snafu
I've got my christmas tree next to my TV and I've noticed that when it's lights are on, pointing on my wiimotes doesn't function correctly. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this problem? Piggy
Isn't the wiimote infrared light based? best way to find out is to move the lights out of the way and see if it works. Snafu
If I unplug the tree, the wimotes work fine Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/607298-xmas-tree-lights-affecting-wiimote-pointing/#findComment-589064960 Share on other sites
petroid
This is because the Wii remote uses the two IR beams as a reference. Some types of light interfere with this when in proximity to the sensor bar. QuantumTrickery
the sensor bar does nothing but give the wiimote a sense of location. Having any other form of lights, especially Christmas tree lights, is going to cause that kind of problem. Essentially your wiimote is getting confused. Xerus
For a fun time, go to your sensitivity settings on the Wii menu and then point the remote at the tree. If you see lots of little speckles, then theres your problem. You could try to turn down the sensitivity a little bit, but the best bet is not to place anything near the sensor bar that could emit concentrated points of light.
