Crysis V1.1 Patch out now (PC)

Recommended Posts

Upon first installing the patch, the patch installed, however, the game would not start up stating something along the lines of "main application failed to launch." I uninstalled the entire game and reinstalled it followed by the 1.1 patch. The game now shows a black screen but fails to respond soon after. This occurs on DX10 and DX9.

I have downloaded the patch from two different sites. I receive the same problems from each patch.

Installed the patch without problems. The game seems a little smoother but it could just be the placebo effect, ie. 'it's patched so it must be better'. :$

It is smoother. It's been benchmarked on a few gaming/graphics forums around with that outcome (and a ton of comments saying as much).

To "fix" my above problem, you can only run the game by going into the application folder and running the 32bit exe. Using Vista Games Explorer fails to launch the game properly (I am guessing it is trying to load the 64bit exe). Running the 64bit exe does not work either.

Settings: Everything on 'High', Postprocessing on Very High ( With DX10 tweak ), 1650x1050.

Windows XP 1.0 - Avg. FPS ( GPU Test ): 32.04

Windows XP 1.1 - Avg. FPS ( GPU Test ): 38.49

Windows Vista ( Ultimate 64 Bit ) 1.0 Avg. FPS: 27.17

Windows Vista ( Ultimate 64 Bit ) 1.1 Avg. FPS: 29.01

The performance results for me.

The one that allows DirectX 10 effects under Windows XP - Tweak might not have been the correct wording.

I think is better to have Stability than performance, i mean, if i have a superb performance but stability sucks why should i need more performance?

(Crashes, Freezes, Slow downs, etc. All of them when stability sucks)

This patch brings more stability, at least for me, and that is what i need.

The hell you on about

True DX10-only coding can not be simply be ran on DX9 hardware, simple as. It can be ported but it will either be the same visually but slower or worse quality at a decent speed.

If you are having trouble running 64 bit like I was, check the following.

If you are using a 680i or 650 mobo along with the Nvidia 15.08 drivers, you might have installed Network Access Manager. 64 bit Crysis has issues with this software. Uninstall it via the control panel and all should be well.

It's a new OS with more features. On the same hardware, of course Vista will perform a little slower than XP. It's the same with most software, especially operating systems.

i'm not bothered about the performance difference, I like vista. Xp can go rot in a bin.

about the patch though, no fps difference for me. The only option I had was to upgrade my gfx card, now at least its a tad more playable, but in places the fps drops to 11, but tends to be around 29-34 in most areas, i'm only on level 2 though. I get quite a bit of lag in the middle of the village level.
