Another MP3 player?

I have a Creative Zen Vision M, and I just noticed that all I use it for is to play a tiny playlist and the radio. I thought maybe it is time to look for something small that can do the same job. I?ve always loved iRiver?s products and I thought the S10 would be perfectAppearance ? Is it a looker?r?

This little player looks just awesome. Ok it might be a little too small for me but I?m not complaining. The OLED display is pretty nice too. I wanted something that was as small as Apple?s shuffle, without actually going with Apple and this was the perfUser Interfaceerface

The UI is pretty much what I?m used to with iRiver?s products. It is straight forward and pretty Featuresb>Features

Besides the Audio playback, the player also has FM Radio, and picture display (BMP I think) and an alarm clock. I didn?t really care about anything but the Radio and the 2Controlling the S10ling the S10

I am so sick of touch screen this and touch screen that. I like to control my player when it is in my pocket with feel alone. The D-pad click system is just freaking awesome in this little player. The d-pad is the whole actual screen of the player and you just click it left, right, up and down. Right is the ?select? most of the time and left is ?back?. Up and down clicks are just a scrolCharging times.

Charging time

Well it took a little under 1.5 hour to charge the whole thing to 100%. iRiver say it takes about an hour to charge to 80% and about 1.5 hours to 100% and that was pretty much true. To charge the player I had to attach the usb dongle to it through the earphone jack. That was a little annoying, but I can live with it.

Battery life is about 8 hours and that?s pretty much good enough for me since I charge my phone and otheSound qualityome.

Sound quality

This is probably the most important thing and the s10 definitely delivers in this department. You also have different preset EQs to choose from or you can customize your own. I went with the SRS preset and that works pretty well. I also noticed the volume is pretty loud on 50% volume. I thought that was pretty cool, since it will probably save on battery life if I can enjoy the music without having to take Conclusionlevel.

Conclusion

I got the player from iRiver?s store since I couldn?t find a place that sells it here in Canada. Sound quality is top notch, the player is easy to use, and quick to charge and looks damn good.

I?m really happy with my purchase. I?m just worried I?m going to break it because it is so small. The headphones that come with the player are not that great. I?m guessing most people who care about sound quality will already have a decent pair of headphones.

Overall I?d give this player a 9/10.
