tiagosilva29
No pro/cons...? Nothing to warn about the Windows Vista "TestDrive" (for instance)? EL1TE
No pro/cons...? Nothing to warn about the Windows Vista "TestDrive" (for instance)? lol, no. Since i have original Windows Vista I don't need to do that Test Drive, i never tested it, so i can't say if it's good or not. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/613353-8-online-operating-systems-wos/#findComment-589134342 Share on other sites
Lasker
WOS are usually useless, why use an Web OS when you have already one running natively and not virtually. EL1TE
WOS are usually useless, why use an Web OS when you have already one running natively and not virtually. Why buy a new shirt if you already have one? Imagine that you have Windows XP, and you would like to know how is Windows Vista and/or Mac OSX etc, how do you test it on your computer? markwolfe Veteran Posted January 14, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 14, 2008 None of those "test" OSX on your computer. The Mercury site simulates a Mac according to the site (didn't work on my PC here at work). So it is a mock-up. Interesting links, I will have to check them out when I get home. But people who want to "test" Vista would be better served using a friend's machine, or trying Vista at Best Buy or so on. And for OSX, stop at an Apple store (unless they have an OSX-using friend). Not particularly useful, but interesting none-the-less. I'll post my impressions after visiting them. gottabeandrew
www.youos.com is one of my favorites although most are copying windows or mac too much and need to be innovative and none are complete enough to be used properly by anybody yet. magik
Why buy a new shirt if you already have one?Imagine that you have Windows XP, and you would like to know how is Windows Vista and/or Mac OSX etc, how do you test it on your computer? Certainly you wouldn't use a WOS to test a different operating system as it's not truly running the operating system so you're essentially just testing the capabilities of your browser and the competence of the WOS developer. If you wanted to really test another operating system, you would use a virtual machine; such as: VMWare. But these are fun to play around with. ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/613353-8-online-operating-systems-wos/#findComment-589205394 Share on other sites

.Cameron.
eyeOS is another good Web OS, with Microsoft Office Compatibility, PDF Viewer, and management of compressed files for quicker uploads and downloads (ex. ZIP all of your documents, upload them, and then unzip them). However, it's proven unstable in some instances for me.
