1.22.0-SB27:

* Synchronised with official r588 from r578 (changelog)

* Windows service hopefully fixed by using ProgramData instead of AppData by default for configs

Note for Windows users:

To retain your old settings you may have to copy your old config file/s to a new directory.

To find out where the new directory is on your computer, run the program and go to the Traces tab and look on the 14th line, the line that says "Profile directory:", that is the folder your config files should be saved now.

I need to update to this one ASAP, as this last build do not like my movies at all, movies I know played at one point.

Now let me ask this, as I definitely played with the settings a decent amount, a lot thanks to AB, so where are the old config files location that I will want to copy to this new profile directory?

Anyone?

I just need to know where the original config files are located before I install this new version. TIA, DL

 I realized I could just use the instructions with the traces log with the currently installed version, so I found the config files. So I figured it out. Hoping this build is a little more stable then the last one.

I found 1.22-sb127 was giving me a few problems, then I noticed that 1.23 came out and seemed to fix any issues I was having before. It's not in that thread, but the download link is on the main page so it may be worth checking to make sure you have the most recent version installed:

And the C-C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER award goes to Dirty Larry!

 I was at work when I originally asked how to get the config files so I did not have access to the app itself, but still I probably should have figured out what I did just based on the trace logs.

I get lots of blue screens of death trying to watch a 720p movie through wired connection on my PS3 :(

Anyone else with this problem?

How can I troubleshoot this problem?

Cannot say I have ever had a BSOD since starting using this software, but if I had to take an educated guess as to what could possibly be causing your comp to BSOD, I would make sure all of your drivers are up to date, especially your motherboard chipset and possibly even more important your Network drivers (for the Ethernet adapter you are plugged into). Also my other big suspect would be make sure you have the latest Java. This app relies heavily on Java, so that actually would be my prime suspect. Check your Java install, make sure it is the latest and or somehow did not get corrupt.

I would also do a uninstall and reinstall of the app. I noticed in the past when you do an uninstall, it actually leaves some files that are related to Java in the folder, it does not clean them all. So then if you go to reinstall in that same folder, you will get an error message about those files not getting written to the install location. So what I have been doing since I realized that is putting a version number on the install folder, so if it is sub-junk build 26 for example, I just put SB26 at the end of the install folder path name. So right now I have a few different versions on my comp, using the latest one as it seems the most stable.

damn it ! i need the set up again HD crashed in my laptop and lost everything .... anyone have a copy of the set up just need the basics really

also will the new update play m4v files ... never seen this file type before

What do you mean by the setup, like the actual config files? I have mine if you need them, but they are pretty specific to my setup, such as I know DTS is enabled since my receiver supports it.

But if that is what you need I have them no issue. If you just mean the installer, the link to their site is a few posts back.

I have to start getting ready for dinner, so will not be around for a few hours, so I just uploaded my config files if that is what you meant. Here is the link to the zip file.

Well you can try the files I attached then and see if they work. Cannot hurt anything. Just back up the default ones.

Way to find where they are located is look under the Traces tab, and line 14 or 15 will say Profile, and give the path of where the files are located. More details on that is in the change log for the latest sub junk release.

Thanks DirtyLarry! Turns out I was a version behind on both Java and lan drivers :)

By the way there are people complaining about the new v1.23.0

It doesnt play MKV files....!

I think I'll stick to the SB27 version for the time being...

Good to hear. (Y) Glad I could help.

Funny, I was having the opposite problem with MKV files. I was having issues with them playing smoothly prior to updating to 1.23.0, been streaming stuff most of the day today without any issues so far.

Yep same here. And actually I almost never (knock on wood) have had issues playing .mkv files. Only about 4 over the span of me using PS3 Media Server have not worked.

SB27 has been working flawless for me so far. Even large 1080p files, which have given me issues in the past, mainly taking various attempts to get them to play, are playing no issues at all and starting up pretty much just as fast as 720p files.

1.23.0-SB28:

* Synchronised with official r601 from r588 (changelog)

* Fix playback with certain renderers like Panasonic TVs (thanks t_osinski and ExSport)

* Improve VOBSUB subtitle support

* Update FFMPEG to r30172 from r28671

So just out of curiosity, does anyone here use PS3 Media Server with a wireless connection?

If so, how is the performance? Do you find there is a limit as to what can be streamed and what cannot be streamed?

I tend to stream 1080p rips on my current PS3 when possible, but that is wired.

My main thing I am wondering if I should go ahead and run a wired ethernet connection to my bedroom so streaming is optimal, or will wireless suffice?

Obviously running a wired connection is ideal, and I am willing to do it if necessary, it just will entail a decent amount of work in order to do that. My brother in law happens to be an electrician, and I have literally unlimited Cat 6 Ethernet cable at my disposal, but my bedroom is very far away from the hub I would need to run the wired connection from, so we are talking a good few hours of work on a weekend to run it up properly.

So just wondering what everyone's experience who use the software wireless is.

I can also do an interim solution of just running a long ass wire ghetto style from my office to my bedroom, which I probably very well may do until I hook it up properly through the walls (again, if needed).

TIA,

DL

ok need help everything works but NO sound was working perfect before i had to reformat

Hmmm.

Update Java? (That seems to be my answer for all PS3 Media Server issues  )

Also, latest motherboard chipset drivers?

And finally, latest audio drivers?

I have PS3 media Server set to HD Wi-Fi Transcoding which is the lowest of the low as far as video quality but it looks somewhat nice on my 47" (but I do stream mostly 720p as far as videos). I have a **** ISP router that I think is Wii-Fi B; whatever the first wi-fi standard was. It's sitting in the room next to me so at most it only has to go through one wall. The video hiccups, it seems, on a set time since the router can't keep up and my computer can't transcode fast enough (10yo computer :( ) but as the video is frozen for the few seconds it audio keeps on going.

Now if you have a newer wi-fi router with a (I could say higher letter but it jumps around so damn bad) better revision er... you get what I mean (hopefully) you may have a better shot at being about to push it more to get the better quality. But it seems that the newer and newer wi-fi standards come out the range gets shorter and shorter.

Don't take my results as the set-in-stone way of doing things but from what crap hardware I have, that's my experience.

If anything try the wi-fi way and pay with the settings to see if you can get something you like or is decent enough to say "good enough". If you can't get it just right, spend the weekend and wire up your house.

WiFi 1080p will struggle, unless you have a high end router. You should try testing it in your bedroom with your current PS3?

Cool thanks for the response.

The plan is to do exactly as you suggest with your last sentence. Only true way for me to find out is to try it out and see first hand.

Thanks again. (Y)

Yes, wireless works for me on simple 350mb avi files (tv episodes), sometimes 700mb avi movie files and always works on 720p tv episodes
