JK_MoTs
hmm this real? Why shouldn't it be? But if you don't believe me, google it yourself! Search via google "Vista SP1 6001.18000" and you'll find it as the first result (and some other results if you don't trust my posted site). :)

Evolution
It's running pretty well, can't really tell the difference between this and refresh 1 though.... maybe ie is a little more stable....
macrospect
Well one thing is for sure, my Auzentech Prelude is now popping like my old Creative Platinum X-Fi did. Seems like Refresh 2 does not play well with my audio subsystem!

macrospect
Try finding updated drivers... There are none thus far (I am using the newest Auzentech RC5 drivers). Its just a shame to see this problem within, perhaps the last RC of SP1! I did not experience this with ANY of the other builds! The crackling only happens when there is heavy window activity (ie. scrolling or opening a new window). It is the same problem which other Creative X-Fi cards regularly suffer from. Mayhem
it feels faster comparing to v744 because they fixed the bug or removed many of the debug stuff on v744 (and only in this version) on my raid0 setup my read speeds were 55 to 65mb/s, now its back to normal - 105 to 115mb/s so that's why it feels faster to you all, you get again your full drive speed

I am still dual booting, using XP as my primary OS. I am not confident that Vista is properly tuned just yet, to be using it full time. Lets hope that the final code makes some beneficial changes to the audio system! I know this is a while off, but I wonder if Windows 7 will suffer from the same audio issues which Vista seemed to spawn?! Just something to ponder. They are taking the Xbox 360 sound system and integrating it back into Vista. It's in beta atm. Basically adding direct sound back into Vista but making it easier to program games for so xbox360 and the PC code will be more compatible. The sound in XP worked fine out of the box, but with Vista everything went to hell then they messed with the way the audio system operates. Although I realize this is impossible, I would be more than glad to see XP's audio system brought into Vista. At least that worked out of the box! At any rate, if MS can improve upon what already exists in Vista just to get it to run smoother, then I would be happier. It is impossible to even listen to streaming radio and browse the internet without hearing pops and cuts in my sound!

nekrosoft13
just noticed one bug in sp1 18000, build in card reader in my laptop will not accept 2gb sd cards. worked in XP, vista RTM, just not in this build of sp1. quick look on google seems that MS are masters at breaking this. There are tons of people with same problem, ranging from XP, 2003, vista and so on. note: this doesn't affect all card readers, everytime they re-introduce this bug, different card readers are affected Edited January 28, 2008 by nekrosoft13
