paxa
i'm having problems with an app, i googled for a way to resolve it and found this. i downloaded the hotfix, so far so good, now i have a folder with 3 files inside, i select one of them and double click on it and it starts to unzip a couple of files, so far so good. but when i try to install the file an error appears. help would be appreciated thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/617745-manually-install-hotfix/ Share on other sites
Apple-a-Day
Hot fixes are extremely specific, the MS articles posted are for exactly the issue described in the article. If you tried to apply the hotfix and got a error, then the issue is not the same as the article described and you have a different issue. Posting a description of your issue may allow members here to help out though. Volatile
Well the second picture you posted looks like your following through correctly. You only install 1 of the 3 files, and most likely the i386 one unless your running 64 bit. As you just posted the error you get, look in the event viewer again and get the event ID... go here and see if you get a better answer as to what your issue is. Budious
I assume you are running the 32-bit version of XP and require the i386 patch. Does the kb for the patch specify which service pack level it applies to? It may already be included in your present SP installation. paxa
the only information i'm getting is that it applies to the .net framework 2.0 nothing else, not a mention to any service pack. Budious
Well if it's not time critical or mission critical workstation, you could wait for XP SP3 to be released soon or download the public release candidate. I would assume the update you need has been integrated into it. You can also try installing .Net Framework 3.5 package as it will automatically bring your .Net 2.0 and .Net 3.0 frameworks up to current level. paxa
it's quite a critical workstation, but i'll try and update the framework. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/617745-manually-install-hotfix/#findComment-589187843 Share on other sites
paxa
updating the framework didn't fixed it. the problem still exists Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/617745-manually-install-hotfix/#findComment-589202602 Share on other sites
