cool, thankx man, any chance of making a Virgin Radio one for me please, as i listen to Virgin radio alot

fancy getting your hands dirty? :p

assuming you already have it installed, first remove it from the sidebar. now browse to

\Users\YOU\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets\BBCRadio.gadget

now open "Settings.html" and look at all the option values. add this line of code....

<option VALUE="http://player.virginradio.co.uk/core/audio/wmp/live.asx?service=vrbb|Virgin">Virgin Radio

next browse into the js folder. edit "contains.js" and add this line of code at the very end.

var Virgin="Virgin Radio";

you might want to add an image to the images directory named Virgin.gif - you can make your own. :p i haven't bothered. now add to back to the sidebar. done.

if your isp supports multicast, you can listen to higher quality streams. check if your isp is on the list here.....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/multicast/radio/

if you're in luck then simply follow the instructions above to open "Settings.html". replace all the option values with this code.....

<option VALUE="http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/asx/radio1.asx|BBCROne">BBC Radio 1
<option VALUE="http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/asx/1xtra.asx|OneXtra">BBC 1Xtra
<option VALUE="http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/asx/radio2.asx|BBCRTwo">BBC Radio 2
<option VALUE="http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/asx/radio3.asx|BBCRThree">BBC Radio 3
<option VALUE="http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/asx/radio4.asx|BBCRFour">BBC Radio 4
<option VALUE="http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/asx/radio5.asx|BBCRFiveL">BBC Five Live
<option VALUE="http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/asx/radio5sx.asx|BBCRFiveX">BBC Five Live Sports Extra
<option VALUE="http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/asx/6music.asx|BBCSixMU">BBC 6 Music
<option VALUE="http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/asx/bbc7.asx|BBCSeven">BBC 7
<option VALUE="http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/asx/asiannetwork.asx|BBCAsian">BBC Asian Network

^ What's the fuss about ?

I'm listening to BBC Radio now, in the USA.

BBC News plays thru Media player.

BBC Music channels plays thru realPlayer 11, which is free.

I have a high-speed connection, and linked thru:

I was just under the impression that anything BBC streamed was UK only. Other than using a proxy that is. I didn't know the radio was available to anyone. Thanks for the tip though!

After a bit of web searching, I get the impression the BBC has blocked any use of the Radio channels, by using any gadgets.

The BBC wants people to link only thru their Radio website.

You need Media Player installed, and (free version) realPlayer 11 installed.

So far, I think the talk radio channels are rubbish.

I enjoy the Music tho.
