A new PSP isn't likely to come any time soon. However, that hasn't stopped this designer from making his own concept design. We have to admit, this is really quite attractive. When closed, the unit looks very iPhone-esque, with a sexy PlayStation button that would act like the PSP's "Home" button.

When slid open, the unit reveals a D-Pad, two analog nubs, and the face buttons -- all in a super-slim case. We know it isn't real, but we want it! Perhaps, the next generation of PSP will look something like this.

Ok it isn't news as such, but boy that thing is sexy!

Do it Sony, and then charge an arm and leg for it... :(

The buttons would probably be difficult to use, but the concept could be tweaked (like this mockup though, the original PSP should of had 2 analog sticks IMO).

Wow, that looks really good. I can't tell if it's a real mock up or a rendering though. Scratch that, it's a rendering.

I agree on the L & R buttons - they look uncomfortable.

Also, the screen looks larger than the original (but still clear) and there are, as you said, 2 analog sticks. These are welcome additions, but wouldn't make sense for an refresh to the PSP. It would be unfair to early adopters and would be hell on developers - develop lower resolution games? plan for 1 or 2 analogs sticks? If this were maybe a concept for the PSP 2.0, I'd be behind it.

Looks good, but I don't like how the screen is on the outside. A flip would probably keep that screen in much better condition.

If they used a glass like the iPhone does it would be fine. That things damn near impossible to scratch.

I'm sure that is what the creator is aiming at.

There's no ways something remotely like this would be a PSP (1) revision!

I think it'd be great for the other functions like web-browsing, but not too great for gaming. Of course, that's just my idea - I'd have to try it out to prove that it was ergonomically uncomfortable (looks kinda squished IMO).

Is it just me, or does the PSP Slim not have that clear Playstation button? It looks quite similar to the PS3 button. That'd be a great way to implement PS3 functionality in there, no?

Not to mention, that's a pretty amazingly rendered picture.

i think if it had a nice hand mold then yea :)

AND maybe some sort of fancy custom firmware with a touchscreen... web browsing on that would be cool :p

I think that guy is on the right track with that model, but some fine tuning would need to be done for Sony to adopt it, that's for sure.
