Badcrew
Sounds interesting. I might have to try this out sometime. I have a few monitors at home that have the same problem with a dead or stuck pixel so I will be able to try this out. FreqFace
When I got my Samsung monitor, it had a stuck green pixel. It's annoying when you spend alot of money of something, you expect to be perfect, even if it can't be helped. So, I jabbed it with a pen and it disappeared... honestly didn't expect it work but it totally did! Awesome! brandnewfantx
Well on Topic I tried this on my green pixel and it reduced the size of it a little, now I can barely notice it. Off Topic That broken screen isnt anything compared to what My Intern and I did to a laptop screen when we didn't have work to do. This is a close up of that screen We shot with a gas powered Air Soft Gun. ViperAFK
I just quickly skimmed this topic, and I saw one question that hadn't actually been answered."How can you tell if a pixel is stuck instead of dead?" The quick way to tell is, if a pixel is stuck then it's usually stuck on a colour. If it's dead, it will be black. That's the only way to tell visually. Of course, you could be very unlucky and have it stuck on black. Better black then bright red in the middle of the screen. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/620725-how-to-fix-a-dead-pixel-in-10-seconds/page/2/#findComment-589220500 Share on other sites
Electric Jolt
Interesting, I hear about dead pixels, never heard of struck pixels, but I thought dead pixels were permanent. Looks like a lot of people have a lot of LCDs with dead or struck pixels. My Dell monitor doesn't have one dead or struck pixel. Hmm.. I hope I don't get one.... JimmyT
Interesting, I hear about dead pixels, never heard of struck pixels, but I thought dead pixels were permanent. Dead pixels are permanent, stuck pixels are stuck :) either lit (<- I'm sure my spelling is wrong here) or dark position. Pixels on LCD are not light emitting. There is a lamp behind the LCD panel always lit, and pixels either allow the light to come through, or not. A pixel is like a tiiiny switch (well, 3 tiny switches, a red, a green and a blue one), and they have to change state all the time. They can change up to 500 times per second for a 2ms display. But sometimes the tiny switches get stuck, and need to be shaken, soft way or hard way. Enardah
Way-ay-ay-ay-ait..... You don't own a pen? Just do what I do. If you live in the UK, steal one from Argos or the Bookies. JoeSam1
Every stuck pixel I've had (8+ on different monitors) have all been fixed by "massaging" the area, not with a pen though. tom01
Just do what I do. If you live in the UK, steal one from Argos or the Bookies. Lol that is so 90's... Everyone had Argos pens. *Phone rings* "WHERES A PEN" *hands Argos mini pen*. They was always down the back of the sofa! Now days we just don't take peoples numbers down... *Phone rings* "Hello it's *** from Master Card. Is the house holder home"... "No, work."..."Ok, can you take down this number"... "Sure thing pedro" *Imaginary writes*. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/620725-how-to-fix-a-dead-pixel-in-10-seconds/page/2/#findComment-591139608 Share on other sites
solardog
Got a bright green pixel, tried pushing it with the pen, nothing happened. That's a stuck pixel not a dead pixel and I have 2, red and blue. Luckily they are in the top left corner-ish and very tiny, but they are annoying at times. Ive tried all the various tricks and there they sit, for 6 months now. I think they are fairly common in LCD monitors right out of the box and I've read Samsung especially have the problem. mujjuman
This sounds interesting. My screen has a green pixel... I'm too scared to do anything about it, so I just learned to live with it. lol... jdlarson83
while using a pen might work, it is much safer to use a pencil eraser(the ones that are attached to a pencil, same technique, same result Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/620725-how-to-fix-a-dead-pixel-in-10-seconds/page/2/#findComment-591167742 Share on other sites
Pharos
I had a stuck blue pixel right in the middle of my new 28" monitor I got for cheap at Bestbuy and I tried this technique and it wouldn't work. I tried rubbing it with my finger, running a program that flashed different colors several times, nothing would work. Man I was so nervous at one point that I said you know what, screw this #@*(#& #@&(*@@ ! I put my thumb over the stuck pixel and I put SO much pressure I knew I was gonna break it, I actually heard it crackling :p but I was so mad at that point, I didn't give a @#&%. When I turned my monitor back on, THE STUCK PIXEL WAS GONE!!!!!!!!!! :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/620725-how-to-fix-a-dead-pixel-in-10-seconds/page/2/#findComment-591167754 Share on other sites

Ferret
I used to have a monitor with a temporary dead pixel, which was stuck at green, and after the screen warmed up, it disappeared. Or, if I just rubbed it gently with my finger, it disappeared too.
