Calum Veteran Posted July 4, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 4, 2010 OH MY. I want all 3 back, right now :( Seeing them together makes me miss them all and realise that WWE is still just not as good as it used to be when these were around. rathefeare
Goldberg should of gone into MMA At 43 now he is getting a little long in the tooth to be just starting out at that. He probably should have given that a shot right when WCW went out of business rather than pursue that last run in the WWE. He would have been 34 then and might have stood a chance at it. Unlike Brock or let's say a younger Kurt Angle I don't think Goldberg has a wrestling background at all much less one on the level of those two. It would have been an uphill battle for him and rumor has it he made an absolute killing off of Time Warner at the end of WCW so he probably saw no need. Rappy Veteran Posted July 5, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 5, 2010 yeah that's what I meant really when WCW folded but the MMA scene wasn't that big then? or was it...can't really remember liking it back then. rathefeare
yeah that's what I meant really when WCW folded but the MMA scene wasn't that big then? or was it...can't really remember liking it back then. I guess that is about the time MMA and UFC in particular started to get big. WCW Couture, Liddel, Ortiz, Penn, ect were all there but the sport was not yet mainstream. WCW folded in 2001. Tough enough season 1 was in 2004-5 and provided more mainstream coverage. That is probably when the UFC started to make the really good money and thus became attractive to some additional fighters. It probably just was not attractive enough money to Goldberg back in 01. Personally I watched a lot of the real early stuff (Shamrock(s), Gracie(s), Frye, ect) and then lost interest in MMA. What drew me back to it was WCW going out of business. Between there only being one wrestling brand and the drop off of quality in that brand I found myself with both the time and the interest to start following MMA again. LukeEDay
I been trying to watch MMA and UFC ...Wrestling is too fake - Wait, I met Vince McMahon and he referred to it as Theatrical Athleticism. I guess that is why a star dies every six months from drug od's or the like... I call it fake. I was a huge fan at one time. I still like HHH, but it just got boring with all the same matches and story lines. I don't watch a baseball game and then suddenly think that Bull Durham or The Natural is not enjoyably or fake. One is sport and the other is a scripted show put on by performers. For me the decline in wrestling is from the opposite effect. I believe they have stopped even trying to pretend wrestling is real sport. We all know that it isn't of course same as I know Keifer Sutherland isn't really a super agent. Wrestling could help me in maintaining my "suspension of disbelief" by trying to take themselves somewhat seriously or at least not smacking me in the face with it every five minutes. That is what I miss about the old Kayfabe era. They treated it as "real" and that helped all of us by forcing them to act more realistically and put out actually thought out stories that made sense (somewhat). In short I was able to suspend my disbelief for those 1 or 2 hours and let myself become immersed in the story same as any good TV or film. Yorak
Guys! Guys! Guess what? I was driving to my gym today, and pass right beside our local airport (Cambria County Airport). Anyways, a plane was coming in for a landing, and I happened to glance up and see the WWE symbol on the tail of the plane! It was so neat. Sometimes they do house shows here at a place called the Cambria County War Memorial. I went to one once years ago, it was pretty cool. Had all the big name people, too...which surprises me. It literally was landing...and was maybe...I dunno, less than 100 yards above me. Not special to most, probably. But the fact that some of the guys I watch on television each week (and yes, the ones I criticize sometimes, hehe. LOC Veteran Posted July 12, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 12, 2010 I swear, if HHH is running the Nexus thing, I'm gonna barf. Not that I hate HHH or anything, but I'd rather see someone else in charge of the whole thing. Many people thing Bryan Danelson will wind up being the one running things, I doubt it but you never know. Personally I'd LOVE it if Cena was behind the whole thing. I mean I know he's the WWE's poster boy, and Vince's main man and all that jazz, but a heel turn could do wonders for him right now imo. Plus, the whole argument that they will lose on merchandise is bologna. People buy the shirts and everything else regardless if someone is a heel or a face. As for the anon. GM, it better not be someone lame. Again people are saying it's going to wind up being Danelson, eh I'd love to see that, but I just don't think so. Personally I'd like to see it be Vickie "I am the master at getting heat" Geurrero. Sure most of the time it's cheap heat with her "EXCUSE ME" stuff, but man she can practically cause riots with the stuff she does. But, more than likely it won't be her. Good Ole JR? I don't think so. Stone Cold? Yeah, right. The Rock...hmmm maybeeee. timster
Kane won his second heavyweight title after cashing in money in the bank on Rey Mysterio this was a ladder made specifically to hold the Big Show. apparently the ladder itself was over 350 pounds. i for one would not want to get hit with it Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/621597-the-big-wrestling-thread/page/128/#findComment-592923466 Share on other sites
LOC Veteran Posted July 19, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 19, 2010 And The Miz won the RAW MitB match, but did not cash it in last night. But he willllllllll. Rappy Veteran Posted July 19, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 19, 2010 With his WWE World championship win last night, Kane would become the first person to the win the WWF (now WWE) title, the World championship and the now-defunct ECW belt while all three were under the auspices of WWE. Big Show is technically considered the first but his "World" title victory was in WCW as The Giant. Chris Jericho wrote the following last night after Money in the Bank: ?Great ppv tonight! Congrats to Kane for his hard work and dedication to his company for 15 yrs. My company is a powerhouse that will never be beat. All other companies need to watch and learn??
