In a move that shocked many, WWE released road agent and occasional on-screen performer Goldust (aka Dustin Runnels) last week.

Goldust had reportedly been working with the WWE divas for their various backstage segments and matches over the past year in a Fit Finlay-type role. He also showed up on SmackDown late last year to hint at an angle with his brother Cody Rhodes (it was heavily rumored that two siblings would face off at WM 28, something that ultimately never came to fruition).

Initially, no full explanation was offered for the surprising cut, apart from PWI's claim that the star's release came about following an unspecified incident at the SmackDown taping two weeks ago.

In this week's (subscribers-only) F4W Newsletter, Bryan Alvarez went into more depth on the situation, noting that it was likely due to Goldust OK'ing what WWE saw as a very dangerous move in a match on the show involving NXT stars Yoshi Tatsu, Titus O'Neil and Darren Young:

WWE released Goldust, who had been working as a producer (modern term for agent) for the Smackdown brand. While this hasn't been confirmed, the belief from piecing together various stories is that he was responsible for coming up with the spot two weeks ago on Smackdown where Yoshi Tatsu took a double-team powerbomb from Titus O'Neil and Darren Young and landed dangerously. The bump was said to look even worse live than it did on TV.

The extremely nasty-looking bump in question comes at roughly the 1:45 mark in this video...

I really hope this isn't the reason why Goldust was released, because it'd be a pretty pathetic reason for releasing him. The blame for that bump falls squarely on Darren Young and Titus O'Neil.

Dustin has never really been in the good graces on mcmahon so its really not that much of a a surprise that he was let go of based on a mistake of two rookies

Tampa resident and WWE superstar John Cena has filed for divorce from his high school sweetheart and wife of only 3 years, Liz Huberdeau, saying the marriage is "irretrevably broken." The soon-to-be-ex-Mrs.Cena has armed herself with powerful Miami attorney Raymond Rafool, best known for going head to head with Hulk Hogan in his nasty divorce battle against ex-wife Linda. In that case, Rafool allegedly took Hogan for 70% of his assets. Huberdeau hopes for something similar, but it's not going to be easy. Cena, worth over $18 million, has a 2009 prenup that is said to include the ability to take back all gifts and presents.

That stipulation has forced the soon-to-be-ex to hire Rafool, who told us "Although it is indeed unfortunate that John Cena decided to divorce his high school sweetheart Liz Cena; particularly, after they have come so far in their lives and in his career together, Liz will and really has no choice but to pursue all of her rights and entitlements. Although Mr. Cena pushes a prenuptial agreement and that the parties have only been married for approximately 3 years, Liz Cena has always supported John Cena, even when no one else did, and stood behind him and pushed him forward to achieve their goals for the last 14 years. Sadly, divorce is not the way Liz thought her perfect love story would end."

Another insider warns that this isn't going to be pretty, saying "This is going to dwarf the Hogan divorce in nastiness." Yikes.

Well divorces come with this lifestyle. Really sad to hear divorces like these.

I feel sorry for both of them and hope that this can be done quietly and not become a media circus which would forever tarnish their name much like Hogan's divorce tarnished his.

Well, that quote seems to say otherwise.

But at least John Cena was smart enough to get a pre-nup. He should be able to avoid paying out, even if she drags him through the mud.

True but their Doomsday Device variation was really badly ****ed-up. Yoshi Tatsu really landed on his neck. Nobody wants to see another Darren Drozov.

Anyone who makes any kind of money NEEDS a pre-nup. I would most likely never marry again, but if I did, I would 100% have a pre-nup, and am very glad my soon-to-be-ex-wife suggested it last time round. I don't see them as negative, they create a framework that doesn't allow for the negativity in my mind. Cena was smart. As for the quote posted - very emotive and blaming, which is a shame - it's the end of a marital union, for which 2 people are ALWAYS to share responsibility.

And:

Very VERY true!

I wish they could bring the Briscos in from ROH that would spice the division up!
