Just watched the Smackdown stuff from WWE.com.  The tag team match looked awesome, and was kinda annoyed by the whole McMahon v KO segment.  For a moment there, I was thinking "Are they trying to make KO the new Austin?"  I hope not.

Could the words WWE Presents: Hog Wild be said in the near future? According to sources, the use of a few WCW event names is getting closer than you’d think.

We’re told WWE officials are getting close to putting their hand in the nostalgia basket once again to use old labeling for a few live events/specials in the very near future.

As you may recall, WWE ran a Clash of Champions event last year and used WWE branding for The Great American Bash from 2004-2009 (and then in 2012 as a one-off Smackdown episode).

It’s unclear which events they’re looking to run at this point … but given the time of year, it’s worth noting that the next few WCW PPVs would’ve been Fall Brawl: War Games, Halloween Havoc, World War 3 and Starrcade.

RIP Brain. Still miss you on the commentary these days. You could teach these youngens a thing or two about selling on the mic even after your illnesses maybe 15 or so years ago. As MJ said, your doing color next to Gorilla Monsoon up in the great squared circle beyond.

I find it a bit amusing how WWE mock the history of "TV wrasslin'" with that Southpaw stuff - which although amusing is a bit awkward seeing as it's the victors mocking that which paved the way for them, but also genuinely wants a piece of the nostalgia pie every step of the way.

Bound for Glory is headed to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Impact Wrestling announced today that the Aberdeen Pavilion would be hosting the pay-per-view on November 5th, with television tapings also set for the venue on November 6-10.

When the word got out that the tapings were being moved to Canada, a number of people in wrestling inquired about the status of Jim Cornette, who has been all over the recent television shows as the head of authority for the promotion.

Cornette hasn't been to Canada for years because he was turned away at the border in 2010 when they ran his record, which included a number of assaults, mostly stemming from incidents involving fights with fans who attacked him while he was a manager at matches in the 80s. He had been going to Canada for years, including his WWF run, with no incident, prior to 2010. When he worked for ROH, he never attended the shows in Toronto.

Because of that, Cornette won't be at the next set of tapings and is done with the promotion, which he said there is no heat over and it's just a matter of circumstances.

Cornette is expected to go into more detail on this on his podcast on Thursday.

GFW officials confirmed his being done yesterday as did Cornette today. Cornette noted that he came to GFW after being called in August by Jeff Jarrett, and the agreement was just to work one set of television tapings to facilitate a few storylines, which were the stripping of the championship from Alberto El Patron and the gauntlet match, the on-screen firing of Bruce Prichard so he could return as a heel manager, and to try and make Anthem Sports & Entertainment babyfaces to the wrestling fans.

After the tapings, he and Jarrett agreed that he would come back for Bound for Glory and for a few days at the next tapings in November. Cornette didn't know his status with Jarrett now out of the company and the company's creative, headed by Scott D'Amore and Sonjay Dutt, said to be more focused on in-ring action and less on authority figure angles.

Cornette hadn't heard from anyone in the company other than Bob Ryder, who told him not to believe what he read on the Internet, and spoke to Dutch Mantell, where he explained with the tapings being done in Canada that he wouldn't be able to appear.

Cornette agreed to come to Nashville and do whatever would be needed on camera to do a storyline exit. Right now there is nothing on the table for it.

In several media releases issued today, Anthem Media is once again referring to their wrestling company as Impact Wrestling, not Global Force Wrestling.

PWInsider.com has requested comment on the change, but thus far, has not received a response.

As previously noted on PWInsider.com when Jeff Jarrett took his leave of absence, the announced "merger" between the two sides had not actually been completed.  It would appear with today's announcements that the GFW name will fade away and remain, potentially, a separate entity should Jeff Jarrett opt to run GFW events on his own.

Anthem had been in the middle of running One Night Only PPVs utilizing the GFW Amped! TV footage that had been filmed but not utilized prior to Jeff Jarrett's return to Impact.   Whether they continue on that path or drop those shows (which had two remaining PPVs to air) remains to be seen.

WWE regularly conducts research to find better ways to improve the network and their latest survey looks to gauge fan interest in a slew of intriguing programming choices.

The first line of the survey reads, “WWE is considering adding new programming to WWE Network as part of a premium priced tier.  Listed below are some potential new programming ideas.”

Some of the shows include:

  • WWE Superstar “Cribs”
  • WWE-style “Apprentice” to win a job at WWE
  • WWE Legends’ House Season 2 – Attitude Era
  • TV-14 In-Ring Show: A “new” weekly version of ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) or other “edgy” new promotion rated TV-14
  • House Shows: For the first time ever, get a live, ringside view of select WWE house shows
  • New in-ring tournaments such as a Pro Am style tournament (WWE vs. NXT), a Lucha tournament, a tag team tournament, or King / Queen of the Ring tournaments
  • Original Scripted Comedies: Comedies such as WWE Superstar Roasts, Southpaw Regional Wrestling or WWE’s version of The Office
  • Original Scripted Dramas: Wrestling-themed series inspired by wrestling’s colorful and rich history such as WWE’s version of Game of Thrones
  • The survey also asks for interest in programming for companies like Ring of Honor, NJPW, Impact, ICW, PROGRESS and “other regional Indie promotions.”
  • Some of the other notable things listed in the survey that WWE want to know your interest in:
  • Ability to download content and watch offline
  • Set up a “movie theater mode” to watch virtually with friends or participate in a live event on Facebook where you can chat with other fans
  • The ability to watch current or historic WWE content in a way that makes it seem as if you are actually sitting ringside and experiencing an event, such as WrestleMania, live and in person, using special computer generated effects and equipment like a headset
  • The ability to watch WWE in-ring shows using alternate camera choices (e.g. gorilla cam, drone cam, Go-Pro camera), 360 views or select higher or lower resolution options
  • Alternate Audio: Choose your favorite pay-per-view commentator team – for instance, you can hear “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Jerry Lawler call a live pay-per-view

REMINDER: This is just research/ideas for now and none of these things set in stone.
