Jon Moxley made an unforgettable debut at All Elite Wrestling Double or Nothing by attacking Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega after their match ended. Here’s how the wrestling world took the news of the big signing by AEW and the event itself.  (Dean Ambrose)

The Brother vs Brother match was match of the night for me.  Followed by the main event.  The whole Dean Ambrose signing shouldn't have been too big of a shock because there was talk/rumor about him going to AEW once it was official that he was leaving WWE.  I guess the timing was a surprise but hey, a big name, so you give them a big entrance.

Overall it was a good show, some of the lesser important matches could've been shorter, but that's just my opinion.   I hope this makes the WWE step up, or it could get ugly for them.

First time in god knows how many years that I actually paid to watch a wrestling PPV, and it was worth every penny. We've definitely got a competition on our hands again!

Here's the pre-show, in case you didn't see it...

So... I consider myself a casual fan. I watch WWE big 4 ppvs on streams, I read the smack down and raw reports but I’m not avid.

I tried watching TNA through a few of its incarnations but just meh. Never thought I would pay for a PPV.

On a random spur of the moment, I bought Double Or Nothing. Jesus, not without its flaws but what a show! The Cody/Dustin match absolutely stole it. The emphasis on tag wrestling. The unpatronising use of Japanese wrestlers and allowing them to exhibit their own style. The unpatronising women’s division. I’m a fan!

Yeah, but I felt the tag matches went a bit too long.

So just watching the AEW show. Top to bottom it was a pretty damn good show with some amazing wrestling that's for sure. Some of the technical problems can be ironed out (the timekeeper mistake is easily fixed, just don't do that again lol) and the camera work just needs a bit of improvement. But overall very good show. Certainly on par with any WWE puts out that's for sure. As for the matches, I LOVED the Omega vs. Jericho match, though I can take or leave Ambrose/Moxley. I never really cared for him in WWE so, sure I guess its cool. But my favorite match of the night by far was the 6 woman tag match. Oh my god that reminded me (don't ask me why, other than its Japanese wrestlers) of the old days watching imported Japanese deathmatch VHS/DVDs. I never thought I'd see Aja Kong in an American event like this again after being in that Survivor Series match in like 1994 I think and also some Shimmer event I got linked to from 2015 I think. Obviously age has taken its toll on her but she's still awesome.

Speaking of Awesome, how bout that other Kong showing up? I mean, I'm guessing she's fairly limited in the ring (and probably super rusty) at this point but man it was nice seeing her back also. All the tag matches were good, especially the opener with SCU and that "normal" tag match with The Best Friends etc. Yeah overall, good show. I hope they do well and bring it to WWE so maybe Vince will wake up from his 1992 slumber and either start competing again or hand things over to someone else finally.

The belt looks OK, it looks to me like they took inspiration from the old WCW big gold belt.  Personally, the old WWF gold eagle will always be the one I like the best, probably because it's the one I grew up with seeing the most though.

Sami Zayn said AEW on RAW, was he told to or he did it off the cuff? Also, if off the cuff, how long before he shows up in AEW, 6 months?

FWIW, they cut that bit out on the YouTube upload.

Yeah I just saw the report on Wrestlezone that it may not have been scripted and it was pulled from the YT upload. My guess is, it was scripted and they are now trying to "work the boys" as Meltzer says. Or at least make it seem that way. I'd sure as hell think Sami Zayn would get suspended as they mention for saying it without permission but in this day and age who knows. Also, in the Young Bucks match against the Lucha Bros. (man I love Pentagon Jr) Matt Jackson paid tribute to El Generico aka Zayn of course with a move. Maybe Zayn asked to mention AEW as a "thank you" since respect and all that is so important in the wrestling shadows.

Not sure if anyone saw this yet, but here is a bit about Rick Flair on our local TV news:

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA (WGCL) - WWE legend Ric Flair is back on his feet after beating a brush with death caused by an irregular heartbeat.

One week ago, Ric Flair, 70, was fighting for his life in the hospital. (Source: WGCL/CNN)

One week ago, the 70-year old was fighting for his life in the hospital. He had surgery to replace a pacemaker and remove a blood clot.

It’s the second close call for the “Nature Boy.”

He survived a bout with obstructed bowels two years ago, which forced him into a coma and nearly shut down his organs.

“All I did was think about dying. Every step you take, when you’ve been that close, and I was going out of my way to make people that I cared about understand how much I cared about them,” Flair said.

“Woo! I’ve got things to do, man. I’ve got to meet Charles Barkley," he said. "I won’t say where, but he said, ‘When you get well, I’ll meet you downtown.’ Charles, I’m on my way, brother. He’s the greatest.”
