MightyJordan
I have a feeling that "Cult of Personality" is definitely not going to be a one-off. I just watched that moment again (I've watched it nearly a dozen times so far, and I could watch it forever. :p ), and I spotted JFK in his titantron, and we all know he's in the lyrics to the song ("Like Mussolini, and Kennedy, I'm the cult of personality"). Personally, I love the change. I've loved that song for years, and it helps CM Punk look more of a face, because let's face it, he ain't going back to a heel for a loooooooonnnnnnnnng time. :) Whoever in WWE came up with this storyline is a frickin' genius and is not being paid enough. :p

Yeah, its a fitting song, especially since it exemplifies him vs Cena. Almost perfectly. But 'This Fire Burns' is an awesome entrance theme. Also, there are a lot of IWC members that think that moment (the two belts) was terrible and that CM Punk came back too soon. I don't agree and I can see you don't either. I now can't wait for Raw every week, and that wasn't the case before this all started.
MightyJordan
Did you [zackryder]Buy the T Shirt[/zackryder]? No, not yet. :p I may buy it later on. I might even ask for it as a birthday present, as my birthday's literally a month and a day away. :)

I think he came back too soon in the sense that "WWE have signed him back" too soon; they could have played the storyline up more with him flaunting the title around other TV shows and public places somehow acknowledging it every week on Raw (I can't think how they could have done that at the moment though) with John Cena claiming he's the real champion and CM Punk isn't or something. If you see where I'm coming from? I have the basis of an idea, but it isn't fully formed :p I just think them "signing him back" so soon has ruined the storyline. They could just say he isn't signed, but he's here to make sure theres only one WWE Champ. Keep in mind that they have acknowledged none of his appearances on TV - Comic Con, the indy show, the pictures on twitter, the Cubs game, etc. Thats all been purely for the IWC. LOC Veteran Posted July 27, 2011 Veteran Share Posted July 27, 2011 I know this isn't going to happen and all, but I really hope this is the storyline that turns Cena heel finally. At the end of the segment when he won and helped Rey up, I swear I thought he was going to AA him or kick him in the nuts or something lol Let's face it, Punk is a face in this situation and Cena is hated by anyone over the age of puberty at this point that has a penis. Don't get me wrong, I love Cena. He works his ASS off for WWE, does everything he's asked to do, puts over ANYONE, doesn't cause politics backstage to be an issue, and he works and works through injuries that other wrestlers take months off for most of the time. (Wasn't he supposed to take time off now? lol) That being said, I got a very heel-ish vibe from Cena on RAW, especially at the end. I'm probably just hopeful it'll happen, and just seeing things. But hey, if Vince was smart (and we know he is) and he KNOWS he has lightning in a bottle with Punk right now, they could do a really good program with a face Punk vs. a super awesome heel Cena. And yes, it was finally nice to see Zack Ryder on RAW actually wrestling. Even though Cole botched his finisher, but let's face it Cole isn't a wrestler and doesn't know how to take bumps all that great :D

I got the same impression from Cena. He could go with the same thing Christian did, even though Christian's wasn't true. That the fans 'abandoned' him and cheered for someone else. Cena basically left the ring with his tail between his legs and let Punk win. I can see a Cena heel run through WM next year, with him still doing a lot of the same things (wearing Hustle, Loyalty, Respect gear) so that when they turn him back face he can say he never changed, just got misguided. That is the one way I will enjoy Cena winning at WM, if he turns heel and "cheats" to beat the Rock, that would be pretty epic.

Cena will win at WM, 100% - and it will be a clean victory. Will he do it as a heel or a face? I'd lean heavily as face, but we shall see. Putting a retired performer over your #1 (#3 at the very, very, very worst - if you hate him completely) guy doesn't make any sense and will not be done. Nerd Rage
Cena will win at WM, 100% - and it will be a clean victory. That's what I am afraid of. In my mind, there is no way Cena could go one on one against Rock, Hogan, Austin, HHH, Mick Foley, etc etc etc and win. I guess I'm just too big a fan of the Attitude era to admit that any of these PG wrestlers could hold a candle to the Attitude guys. I would rather see CM Punk beat Austin in a match than Cena beat the Rock.

If you're going to use that logic, Big Show would never lose. Ever.

Except Vince probably had to promise Rock the win at WM to even get him to be interested in the match. Don't forget, Rock didn't need that win at WM against Hogan but he got it anyway. (Then again, Hogan didn't need the win either so, meh)

episode
I do have to say that I am a Rock fan. I just bought the new white USA Brahma Bull T shirt as well. But to say that Vince, or WWE, or the fans, or Cena or anything owes Dwayne anything is ridiculous. Saying that Cena (or Punk, for that matter - Orton is too robotic) can't go one on one with 'The Great One' is crazy as well. In reality, Cena has already had a longer run at the top of the company, and carried more of the load, than Rock did in his entire career. Come April, it will be even longer. I just hope that The Rock gets some more material for November. I don't want to see November - April of him giving the exact same promo he has since his return. Nerd Rage
I think what I mean by there's no way Cena could hang with the attitude era guys is that they actually had good gimmicks in the sense that they could lose fairly to someone and still be legit. There were just so many stars back then, it wasn't strange for Austin to lose, Rock to lose, Foley to lose, HHH to lose.....and yet they didn't lose any credibility when losing. However, Cena is no longer Cena and hasn't been for a long time. He is Super Cena, aka the original Undertaker, who cannot be hurt, cannot be stopped, cannot lose at all. The only way I've ever seen Cena booked to lose is when someone else wins unfairly. The Rock is a guy that could end that and still keep Cena from losing credibility, as the Attitude era guys are larger than life imo. Super Cena is just stale and has been for years. Hell, I cheered for the Miz on his run even though I didn't really think it was deserved just because it knocked Super Cena off the mountain top for a while. LOC Veteran Posted July 28, 2011 Veteran Share Posted July 28, 2011 "John Cena is poopy!" I LOLed IRL. I'd really like to know what it actually is about Cena's character that the kids love so much. I don't see it personally, but then again I'm pushing 40 soon enough so ehhhh yeah. Rey, I can see why the kids love him (hell I'd love if he put one of those masks on me! lol). As for the whole "Super Cena" thing, that's really played out imo. Let's face it, at the end of the day this is pro wrestling, which as we all know is scripted and highly organized (for the most part). Cena is booked to win most of the time because he's super over and very popular with certain demographics. Hogan did the same thing over and over again every match for over a decade also, and practically nobody ever complained about his 5 moves of doom stuff. The problem now is, the kids back then are adults now and want something "better" per se, and in this day and age with reality tv and what not want more "realistic" wrestling stuff as well. Truth be told, I have no problem with Cena no selling half the time or coming from nowhere and AA'ing someone for the win out of the blue. Hell, Randy Orton does the SAME thing now with his out of nowhere RKO's. Orton at least has a bigger move set, so people don't complain about his schtick in the ring. Anyways, back to the video of CM Punk and the kid. That was really classic stuff right there. Punk is awesome and I really really hope Vince runs with him. Most IW fans think now that Punk has resigned he'll be back in the mid card again by September and out of the title picture completely. I'd also like to know why he was still wearing the Nexus stuff? My assumption was, he's not the leader of the Nexus anymore (it's dead Jim).

Find me a clean loss by anyone you mentioned (besides Foley, who really doesn't give a ****, and would put anyone over, just like Jericho) that isn't against another person you mentioned.
