+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted March 1, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted March 1, 2008 the new nightly is freaking amazing!! soo fast Link? I may take the jump to the betas from 2 if they are fairly stable - I understand working with betas is risky ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/622651-performance-improvements-in-firefox-3/page/2/#findComment-589242996 Share on other sites
The_Decryptor Veteran Posted March 1, 2008 Veteran Share Posted March 1, 2008 The betas don't have the performance increase (in JS anyway, rendering is faster), you'd have to use a nightly build. http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/fir...y/latest-trunk/ Edit: And use a separate profile, you can have multiple versions installed and a different profile for each. Borbus
Does it have protected-mode yet like IE7 in Vista does? What is protected mode? Does Firefox actually need it? The_Decryptor Veteran Posted March 1, 2008 Veteran Share Posted March 1, 2008 It restricts where the program is writing to a certain folder, unfortunately Firefox stores it's profile in another folder so if you run Firefox in protected mode, it just crashes. At least I think that's why they aren't adding support for it. Borbus
Well, what about Firefox Portable, will that work in protected mode? It writes everything it needs to the same directory... Is it the same as working in a chroot on a *nix box?
