XerXis
Ever hear of web-programming standards? they are actually recommendations i think, altough that is only a matter of semantics and RichardK is behaving like an idiot Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/623881-internet-explorer-8-what-do-you-think/page/2/#findComment-589252064 Share on other sites
SnowRanger13
There aren't any "standards", so.... which "standards" are you trying to imply? Uhh the standards for writing web code. Don't you think if I write a web page by the book it should render properly in a browser? I do. okaussie
I installed it on Server 2008 x64 and it screwed up my gadgets on my Sidebar. I removed it and now all is well. Will continue to use IE7 and Firefox. User6060
Finally I can switch back to IE. I love how IE8 doesn't open new tabs all over the place. If you type in a URL why does IE7 feel the need to keep your current tab and open a new one? IE7 emulation is kind of required but I'm liking it already. I beleave you have it set that way. iirc you can change that in IE7. TheNay
Remember, this release is targetted at web developers. There are a few other nice new user-facing features (crash recovery, and not having to open new windows for Protected Mode IE to be on/off for different tabs, etc), but this is far from the complete IE 8 experience. Great post Brandon, pretty much sums it all up for this release, I can't wait for the next build to roll out :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/623881-internet-explorer-8-what-do-you-think/page/2/#findComment-589252579 Share on other sites

jbarcus81
So far so good.. It's Beta 1 so what's wrong will be wrong I'm sure.. will only get better??? The only issue I have is the websites I visit not IE7 or 8 compatible or is the IE8 rendering engine changed?? I still have broken pages and some pages are displaying WAY WAY wrong in IE8 B1... just a thought but a good beta!! SirDarkness
It runs great even a little faster. Passed the Acid2 Test in IE8 and failed with IE7 emulated. :-( I like all the features. I think it's great. Now how long until we get a Neowin Webslice ;)-Spenser YEAH WHEN!? Evolution
I don't think enough people would actually use spellcheck.... most people don't post on forums or blogs... and a lot of people know how to spell properly. r47xdy88
Like it so far a good solid start. I will admit it feels quite slow at times. 4/5 for beta 1. Standards compliance is a plus. :) @mike45 it should stay 7.0 until you restart other than that I do not know sorry :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/623881-internet-explorer-8-what-do-you-think/page/2/#findComment-589252941 Share on other sites
