[Official] Grand Theft Auto IV

Bought mine at 9.30 this morning at Argos Manchester Arndale. No other people there, not showing on the system as they dont want people reserving online.

Basically guys I always buy from Argos. When the 360 was sold out everywhere they had some, same with most games. They must get big orders but gamers dont think Argos and instead all preorder with Game.

You live in Chester-le-Street?! Me too.

Nah I live in Annfield Plain nr Stanley, and work in Durham, so ch-le-st is just 10 minutes away.

There's another ch-le-st person on here too, seems we have a nice little Derwentside contingent going on!

My PS3 copy is running in 720p by default instead of 1080p :/

Happen to anyone else?

Nope im on Xbox 360 running at 1080i on my TV ... i think its prob somethin to do with your PS3 rather than the game, numerous people reported resolution issus with GTA IV on PS3.

Why are you telling me what the 360 version runs at?

Plus, can you link me to any discussion on GTA4 resolution issues? Thanks

I can force it to run in 1080p by turning off 720p on the XMB.

However you can do that with any PS3 game, but it sometimes causes issues.

I thought as GTA4 advertises 1080p on the box, unlike other games you wouldn't need to force it to 1080p - Therefore it's either a problem with the game, or something I don't have setup right :/

However I doubt it's anything on my end.

How do you guys know if it's running at 720p or 1080p? Does it just look different or is it stretched out on your TV?

A small box pops up on my tv top left when the screen resolution changes.

GTA4 starts in 1080p, screen stays black for a second, then it jumps to 720p.

I just need confirmation from anyone who owns the PS3 version what theres runs in, and if it's 1080p are they forcing 1080p in display settings, or if they have 720p ticked?

Does anyone feel that the traffic can be more populated sometimes? Driving around in the afternoon looks kinda empty sometimes

You cannot expect the traffic to be anything like NYC traffic. You will just sit there in the game at times :p I am currently still in Brooklyn and it's fairly accurate of the traffic there in the afternoon. It's not as crazy as Manhattan.

Money isnt that important - 41% in and no houses to buy, only things that cost money are guns and clothes - guns are plentiful, and you only need to buy a suit for one mission later on which is $1000 - I had about 35k by that point - so dont worry about it too much.

Someone isn't going to the strip clubs...

Yeah i remember specially DiRT looks really screwed up when you force it to 1080p, :s.., anyways, can you see a difference in quality between 720p and 1080p with GTA 4, since it is only upscaling and not natively running at that resolution?

I doubt I can, but if the game does upscale itself to 1080p, there's no reason it shouldn't do it with my TV and my only conclusion is there is something else wrong with the game?

GT5P has no problems running in 1080p on my TV WITHOUT being forced.

So cmon, PS3 owners stop playing for a while and read NW :p

Ah well question answered I think - http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstatio...hread.id=370406

Even although it says 1080p on the box, it seems you need to force it to run in 1080p if you want it at that resolution!

But i know for a fact that GT5:P runs at 1080p natively. Blah, maybe GTA 4 just prefers 720p... if you cant see a difference, just forget about it :p

Has anybody ordered the special edition at game and if so did it come by van or post?

because i pre ordered but nothing in the post today

Same here, my copy was dispatched on Thursday from Game and I still haven't recieved my Special Edition.

Really enjoying it, played for a few hours, and then a bit on-line.

It was odd playing at first, and I don't like that they inverse both X and Y camera controls, usually I only inverse one.

But besides that its great.

My short trip on-line was with some random person somewhere else in the world and not on my friend list, I crushed him with a helicopter, drove into him with a boat and then drove his car off the road and it exploded as he was running away killing him.

Really good fun, can't wait for some big matches ot happen. :D

Play.com are poor at getting games on time, I remember with Vice City, I got mine on the Thursday because with Gameplay if you have 1st Class you get the day before or with 2nd Class you get it on the day. My friend didn't get it til Tuesday next week.

If it got dispatched today you should get Thursday/Friday comes from Jersey so don't expect it tomorrow.
