Unable to remove Bluetooth system tray icon

Recommended Posts

I have a sticky Bluetooth system tray icon that I can't get rid of on my Vista Ultimate Desktop.

Right Click - Remove Bluetooth Icon removes the icon, but that only works until the system is rebooted.

In the Bluetooth Devices options in Control Panel under the "Options" tab there is an option "Show the Bluetooth icon in the notification area" which is always unchecked.

I have tried all permutations playing with this box - I have checked it, restarted, then unchecked (which removed the icon), but regardless of the state of this box, the bluetooth try icon persists.

I've googled but the only hits I get teach people how to get into the Control Panel to uncheck the box :/

Currently I have it hide but anyway I wish to remove it for good...

Right-click on the clock in your tray, then select "Customize Notifications..." Locate the BlueTooth icon in the list and change it to "Always" hide. :)

Thanks but as I said in the first post I already have it hide. What I wish is to remove it since there is an option in the Bluetooth Control Panel to not show the icon in the systray. I'm wondering why this isn't working.

Open up msconfig and look to see if it's in the startup items or any service anywhere. Of course, this could disable bluetooth until you reenable it through the same way.

Thanks but I did that already and there is nothing related to bluetooth there :-(
