Master_X
Myself and a few other people have always had trouble getting LAN games to show up for Warcraft 3, and before we've never been able to find out why. About the only flaw we had was the host of the game must be running Vista. (It doesn't matter who started the hamachi network) If somebody can get this to work with the Warcraft 3 host being on XP, let me know in this thread. First you must setup Hamachi: Download Hamachi from: https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/vpn.asp?lang=en Install and setup Hamachi as you feel. Join the network that you all will be using. if experiencing problems you may need to open tcp ports 12975 and 32976 on your router, and\or set the Hamachi network device at top priority. Go to advance settings in your network device listing to do this. WC3 Host: Must be running Vista (again if somebody gets this to work right under XP let me know) Host a LAN game as normal if experiencing problems you may need to open port 6112 on your router. Other players: Download and install LANcraft from http://infoceptor.net/files/warcraft3.shtml Type in the IP address of the person that is hosting (shown in hamachi). Click start warcraft button Go to the Local Area Network section and shortly you should see the game popup. I got a few people in a game, and didn't have any problems, once we finally got it working. Also if you are still having problems don't forget to check or temporarily disable your firewall. Master_X
I downloaded Garena before trying to get it to work in Hamachi and took one look at the UI and the ads, and already disliked it. wongdavid
your guide works perfectly. The lancraft program is a bit old :p , but it works great. You need to add line : past the lancraft near warcraft file (inside the folder). maybe because there are newer vers of hamachi or technology it is working with xp perfectly (no lagg) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/626403-playing-warcraft-3-using-hamachi/#findComment-589382700 Share on other sites
icecoldstar
Garena does have ****ty UI, but it works for god sakes, and there are a lot of ppl playing on it every single day Hamachi, on the other hand, has many bugs. Sometimes I cant even find the host even if he's on the same network as me... pengiranijam
Just like each other, the software has the different on advantages and disadvantages which version you use, which Garena do have and Hamachi dont have, and so on, everything we need is the software, we need good connectivity, setting and software compability... Slimy
After Hamachi screwed my friends and me over, we used Garena. So yeah, I recommend it simply as an alternative. DDStriker
battlelan is best simple and does the job well with minimal overhead Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/626403-playing-warcraft-3-using-hamachi/#findComment-590245562 Share on other sites
planetik
battlelan is bestsimple and does the job well with minimal overhead Only problem is that Battle.net uses a delay that is default at 250ms, whereas LAN is set to 100ms. You can reduce it further to about 70ms by using delay reducer or listchecker, if you need to use Battle.net to find public players or such. marzzbar
There is a better program you can use to play Warcraft 3 (or any LAN game) online. It works on the same principle as Hamachi (creating a virtual LAN), but it is designed specifically for playing games and works much, much better with no configuration. It also supports ANY lan game and is much more lightweight and easy to use than garena. It's called Tunngle, and, just like hamachi, it's free, easy to set up, lightweight, secure and creates direct peer to peer connections with little latency. As of now, it's only in beta, so it's only in German, but a proper release in English is expected very soon. This tutorial shows you how to use it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Djqn-b527q8) You can download Tunngle from http://www.tunngle.net/en Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/626403-playing-warcraft-3-using-hamachi/#findComment-591815706 Share on other sites
Roberticus
I used Battle.lan when I played Warcraft 3 over the net with friends.
