connecting computer case calbes with motherboard

Recommended Posts

hi,

I just got a new MB and I've connected evertyhing except from the cables of the front panel of my computer case. On the front panel I have:

- hdd led

- power led

- power button

- reset button

- 2 USB ports

The avaible cables are:

- HDD LED (white, orange)

- M/B SW (black, green, the green cable has a KSP sign on the connector)

- RESET SW (black, white, the black cable has KSP)

- POWER LED (+) green

- (-) white

- (1) +5V red

- (1) -D white

- (1) +D green

- (1) GROUND black

- (2) +5V red

- (2) -D white

- (2) +D green

- (2) GROUND black

I know for sure where to connect the HDD LED cable but with the rest I'm not sure.

Can anyone help?

Here some screen of the MB's manual:

F_PANEL

pins 6-8 are for power switch

5-7 are for reset switch

speaker goes to the last 4 pins on the right

HDD LED goes to pins 1-3

with USB the RED goes to power, BLACK goes to GROUND, WHITE goes to -, GREEN goes to +

ok, let's do it another way :) lets sort this and make a table:

CABLE NAME / PIN

HDD LED / 1,3 (F_PANEL)

M/B SW /

RESET SW / 5,7 (F_PANEL)

POWER LED(+) /

(-) /

(1) +5V /

(1) -D /

(1) +D /

(1) GROUND /

(2) +5V /

(2) -D /

(2) +D /

(2) GROUND /

Take a look at this,

That shows the pins/headers on your motherboard, and where each connector from your case should go.

The following 4-connector set makes up one USB connector.

+5V / (red)

-D / (white)

+D / (green)

GROUND / (black)

There should be two groups, each group will have one red, one white, one green, and one black.

It does not matter if you plug group 1 into "USB#1" or "USB#2". The only thing that matters is that all of group 1 gets plugged into the spot (eg, all of group 1 in "USB#1", not mis-matching the wires across "USB#1" and "USB#2").

:)
