I'll get this one replaced but there's no chance in hell I'l continue using it. This is going to sound odd but... Press hard down on the ball and scroll it around in circles, that should clear the obstruction and return operation. I got myself one of their 3ghz badboys and everytime I boot into windows my audio sounds like ass, real low quality as if its being played from behind a glass. Sounds crystal clear in VMware so its clearly driver related. Just curious if you have the same problem. Also on another side note, does your new iMac show up as a White Mac in the sidebar? Not really important, but mine does and its slightly annoying. Haven't experimented much with OS X yet and am using Vista on it - I do a lot of work in Windows-only applications and can't switch just yet, so will experiment with Parallels when I get hold of it. Most likely indexing for spotlight or time machine. You can exclude drives in the spotlight preferences. I hate that it does that. it shouldn't spin up unless you select the drive or something. If it give you any comfort, I get the same thing too. I have indexing disabled, and whenever I bring up a dialogue box (like right clicking a link in Safari and clicking Download Linked File As) there's a couple second pause as my 5 drives spin up.
