Join/merge two MKV files?

Question

How would I go about joining/merging two MKV files? Preferably using a GUI-based program.

Basically, Open the program, click the add button, select the first file,

then click append and select the second file to be joined.

now select the output directory and click start muxing! all done :)

Warning: The track number 2 from the file 'C:\Users\Elliot\Desktop\file2.mkv' can probably not be appended correctly to the track number 2 from the file 'C:\Users\Elliot\Desktop\file1.mkv': Please make sure that the resulting file plays correctly the whole time. The author of this program will probably not give support for playback issues with the resulting file.

Let's see how it goes.

EDIT: Seems to work fine, cheers man (Y)

When i try to do the same thing, this error shows up:

Error: The track number 1 from the file 'C:\Users\UNKNOWN\Desktop\Ending.mkv' cannot be appended to the track number 1 from the file 'C:\Users\UNKNOWN\Desktop\Opening.mkv'. The track parameters do not match.

What should i do? Avi-Mux GUI doesn't work too. It gave me a output file like the first file i wanted to merge to.

Thanks in advance!

P.S: Why can't i edit appended files in "Tracks, chapters and tags" window?

That error happens when i tried to merge MKV files. When i tried to merge extracted files (.H264 video and 3 AAC audios), it shows the same error, including this one:

Warning: AAC files may contain HE-AAC / AAC+ / SBR AAC audio. This can NOT be detected automatically. Therefore you have to specifiy '--aac-is-sbr 0' manually for this input file if the file actually contains SBR AAC. The file will be muxed in the WRONG way otherwise. Also read mkvmerge's documentation.

I forgot to tell you that i wanted to merge three files, opening theme, episode, and the ending theme. I've got only episode, so i splitted opening and ending part from another episode which has it with splitting option in the program.

I've just realized that resolution has to be the same for all the three videos (Avi-Mux show me an error), so i've tried to change it with MKVMerge, but it doesn't work. I guess that because MKVMerge only sets an option for players to read those resolutions, not affecting the actual video file (.H264).

Now i need to know how to change the actual video resolution of .H264 file?

Thanks in advance!

Damn, i have it installed. I thought it's only for encoding a DVD.

I guess i was wrong. Let me check it.

Thanks!

P.S: What do you recommend me? To change resolution of one video file (whole episode) into 704x396 (original resolution is 720x400), or to change the resolution of opening and ending theme (704x396) to 720x400?

Ok, i've changed resolution of opening theme to 720x400 with Avidemux (Handbrake couldn't increase it, only decrease it), and everything went fine.

I've tried to join it with whole episode just to test it, but it couldn't do it once again. I really don't know what am i doing wrong. It shows me this warning:

Warning: The track number 1 from the file 'C:\Users\UNKNOWN\Desktop\Episode.mkv' can probably not be appended correctly to the track number 1 from the file 'C:\Users\UNKNOWN\Desktop\Opening.mkv': The codec's private data does not match (lengths: 40 and 41). Please make sure that the resulting file plays correctly the whole time. The author of this program will probably not give support for playback issues with the resulting file.

And again, this error:

Error: The track number 2 from the file 'C:\Users\UNKNOWN\Desktop\Episode.mkv' cannot be appended to the track number 2 from the file 'C:\Users\UNKNOWN\Desktop\Opening.mkv'. The track parameters do not match.

What should i do now? I think everything else is the same for both videos after i changed resolution.

could have something to do with the audio track by the looks of it?

#1 video audio has Format settings, SBR : No

#2 video audio has Format settings, SBR : Yes

there are couple of other things, but im not really too sure.

Yes, it has something to do with audio. I've just tried to mux videos only, and it worked. The problem is that the playback is awful. When i try to go forward, the top of the screen goes green, and the player crashes.

I really don't know what to do.

Is there any software in which i could choose all the options like the episode i already have? Or software to change resolution or add black bars without re-encoding it?
