Krokus
Nice to hear. :) I like the lighter one more I think. So I'll pick the lighter one. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/641236-watercolor-emico/page/9/#findComment-589486560 Share on other sites

Unbreakable
Emico is great so far, but it looks washed out on my lcd... So I think it's a good idea to also release a dark black/blue version (separately). martin10018
I would also vote for the "lighter" black... Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/641236-watercolor-emico/page/9/#findComment-589486614 Share on other sites
HU6H
I really think that you should refer to the "lighter black" option as "grey"... I agree that the grey is more consistent with the Blue and Ergo you've released thus far. Having said that, the black is more standard fare and will likely be more popular for the "Zomg Must Have Black On Black" clique. But when it gets down to it... it's all good, and I'll gladly accept and download whatever you create. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/641236-watercolor-emico/page/9/#findComment-589486626 Share on other sites
SakuraKira
Making the Blue version black with the "Black & White" tool in Photoshop adds a red shade to the image and it makes it to bright. Adding a color overlay to it with the correct color makes it look like this: It looks less glossy then yours and it keeps the sharpness plus glossiness from the other styles. It's more a blue tint black then a red tint black. Your version also uses beige for the inner parts which doesn't look nice with black at all. The original version will also have new colors for the toolbar buttons, state buttons, checkboxes etc. Oh and btw.. this is the only teaser you guys get Watercolor Emico: Black :p I didn't want to post any teaser but StarLion gave me no choice ;) Ooooo thank you so much for the black teaser, I was really wondering how dark you were going to go, and this is the perfect shade. Really looking forward to it. I think that a slight blue tint produces a more true sense of black to the human eye, than does a straight desaturation, or red. I once heard that in the '40s, the Duke of Windsor had a tuxedo made that was very dark blue, because it made the black look more true, especially compared to the men around him (who wore traditional tuxedos). So this isn't something that only applies to computer monitors. ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/641236-watercolor-emico/page/9/#findComment-589486627 Share on other sites
Jamushroom Veteran Posted June 16, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted June 16, 2008 ^Thanks! That's exactly what I wanted to go for with the black version. The red tint on it didn't even feel right to me and the blue tint also makes it look fresher. @Hugh1981: Why would you refer to it as grey? The grey color style that I'm going to make is far more lighter then the black version. The toolbar buttons in the black style will be orange. Same goes for all the other hover controls throughout the theme. Not as orange as in LE 5.1 Black though. The black style follows the color codes from the previous versions. Green and orange on the sliders, blue and orange for the buttons. HU6H
Why would you refer to it as grey? The grey color style that I'm going to make is far more lighter then the black version. Primarily because lighter black is... y'know... grey. ViperAFK
I seem to prefer the light black one so far, but they both look very good. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/641236-watercolor-emico/page/9/#findComment-589486651 Share on other sites
fernand
I would also vote for the "darker" black... and "lighter" black as a separate release. And, in the future, a BLACK LOGON SCREEN !!!! please! like in LUNA ELEMENT 5.1 BLACK!!! Yggdrasilly
I'm totally amused by the concept of 'light black' and 'dark black'. With that aside, I think they both look awesome, and I'm glad you decided to release both of them eventually. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/641236-watercolor-emico/page/9/#findComment-589486820 Share on other sites

Jamushroom Veteran Posted June 16, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted June 16, 2008 Well, just as I thought. The dark theme is way to dark IMO. It's hard to see the hover for the selected taskbar items. Also, when a window is maximized the details of the frames are hard to notice. -ExiTjen-
@-Ex!Tjen-: I don't have Windowblinds or Skinstudio so I can't even make a WB version. It's been discussed a few times in this thread. But to make a long story short: If someone wants to make a port, the port will have to be perfect. It has to look exactly like the visual style. As for my previous post, for some reason the image has been removed from imageshack. Anyways, here's the darker black taskbar: ok, sorry for the question. but didn't feel like reading the whole thread :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/641236-watercolor-emico/page/9/#findComment-589487840 Share on other sites
Spartan Erik
That taskbar looks sweet.. it would be cool if thats what it turned out to be! I'm just not a big fan of those large gaps in between those minimized windows Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/641236-watercolor-emico/page/9/#findComment-589487917 Share on other sites
Jamushroom Veteran Posted June 16, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted June 16, 2008 ^It's a mockup. The compiled visual styles has the same taskbar as all the other visual styles. @-Ex!Tjen-: No problem. I'll put the info in the first page :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/641236-watercolor-emico/page/9/#findComment-589487953 Share on other sites
andy_rose
I can't make a decision between the dark black or the light black version. Should I go with the dark one or the one that's less dark? i would go for the light black. but is there any chance you can include both..because the dark dark looks stunning! ViperAFK
They both look amazing to me but from a usability standpoint the "lighter black" is easier on the eyes on most monitors and less distracting. Jamushroom Veteran Posted June 17, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted June 17, 2008 @andy_rose: Not sure about the dark one yet. I'm using it and I'm not happy with it. Yggdrasilly
Here's a simple little shellstyle that I put together for Ergo, since that's the version I'm using right now. :3 I think it's still a little dark, but I'm working on that. It's just a strip across the top of the window, but it looks pretty good with something like FindeXer or the Folders bar open. I'll work on the colour, and on versions to match the other releases as well. What do you think?
