dmb219
They're both nice, I like the 2nd a little better. That's a nice wall, is it available?
Jamushroom Veteran Posted October 3, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted October 3, 2008 Yeah, you can get it here: GRNSCR2 :)
Spartan Erik
I'm a fan of the second one because it is aligned to the very left, but a divider of some sort would be nice All up to you Cap!

I thought about doing that. But I have to figure out how to make it look nice with the grippers for the unlocked taskbar. This startbutton doesn't look nice at all, does it? acies
I agree with Drew, the first has a bit more definition. Though maybe the "Start" text it self needs more definition??
Jamushroom Veteran Posted October 3, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted October 3, 2008 What do you mean with more definition for the "Start" text? In the current design the text glows up when it's being hovered.

But I have to figure out how to make it look nice with the grippers for the unlocked taskbar. This startbutton doesn't look nice at all, does it? That could work out really well I think. Mess around with the colours a little more, I like the idea, but something about the current gradient colours is a little off.
Jamushroom Veteran Posted October 3, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted October 3, 2008 Gradient colors from the startbutton you mean? I did the blue tint on purpose so that it looks shiny and make it look like it's reflecting a bit of the frame colors. Making it fully green didn't look as nice IMO, as you can see in this screenshot:
Krokus
I still think the first one looks better. How does the hover state look on the second startbutton?

Could be my monitor, but the "start" text could be just a bit more.. lighter? or maybe a stronger shadow under it?
Jamushroom Veteran Posted October 4, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted October 4, 2008 It can't have a stronger shadow under it because then it'll look out of place. The shadows on the frame should look similar to each other. The text almost has the same color blue as the Windows flag. I tried a brighter one but it didn't look nice IMO. It becomes a lot brighter when it's hovered. @Krokus: I started that start button yesterday so I don't know yet.
Jamushroom Veteran Posted October 4, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted October 4, 2008 The people that like the startbutton with the orange sides, do they also like the green version? Here's a more up-to-date version:
Krokus
I like it. I like green on blue msstyles :)

Here's a more up-to-date version: Yes, I do! Coloring reminds me of Luna (I liked the Luna colors).
Jamushroom Veteran Posted October 4, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted October 4, 2008 I've changed the latest green version to have 3 px wide sides instead of 2 px and it looks a lot better IMO.
Krokus
I hope it's done fast. :) I want it!
Jamushroom Veteran Posted October 4, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted October 4, 2008 Lol, the taskbar is not the only thing that's getting an update. There's still a lot more that needs to be updated. Like tabs, scrollbars, etc, etc..
Krokus
Hehe. Release before 2009?
Jamushroom Veteran Posted October 5, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted October 5, 2008 I can't say anything about a release date because I have no idea what kind of work all the other elements need. But probably yes.
trag3dy
I like the green start button with orange sides. Nice contrast to the blue imo. Can't wait to see it finished!
roadgeek9
Nice! Can't wait until I finish upgrading to Office 2007 to see how well it integrates!
Jamushroom Veteran Posted October 5, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted October 5, 2008 Let me tell you this, Office 2007 has it's own skin so it wont integrate at all skin-wise :p
undu
The people that like the startbutton with the orange sides, do they also like the green version? Here's a more up-to-date version: I'd prefer it if you removed the blue and orange colours from the left of the button, so it starts at themost left part of the screen, just like the "plain blue" version. roadgeek9
Let me tell you this, Office 2007 has it's own skin so it wont integrate at all skin-wise :p What I meant was how well it would look together with Office 2007... Which it does pretty well.
